Does anyone know if these plans are available for new sign-ups?

$15 for 25 minute
$20 for 50 minutes

The guys at RadioShack said they never head of them...

This post mentions them though.

There is a local calling plan the Verizon offers for 24.99 for 60 minutes. But it doesn't have the features the other calling plan include (no raoaming, in calling, etc).

That's the "Digital Choice" plan right?

I didn't know you couldn't roam with that.

So, basically you can't leave your home area (kinda like Cricket??)?

It's not that you can't roam, you can do that but you'll pay 69 cents per minute plus 25 cents per minute if the call is long distance.

Huh? Out here in California, they still have the local plans.

They even still have the local plan promotions, such as the LDC 600 and the 1000 Anytime Minutes with free LD.

Not all areas are the same. Yes, in the west area there are local plans still available. However, some other areas, like the south (I belieive) don't offer local plans anymore

both plans exist west of the rockies, but, not available for activation. sometimes called "save" plans. they are ordinarily available in the last 6 months of service agreement. they only include a night/weekend allowance with an extension to your s/a and do not include in calling. they have a local coverage area, for determining roaming/ld charges. that being said, if you squeak loud enough, you might get one offered. but, what really is the point?
