Just my luck.....reps please help
I always seem to buy the on-the-way-out phones for some reason, so I jumped on the HTC Eris in early Feb and have absolutely LOVED every minute with this phone. However, now, after almost 6 months, it has decided to turn maniacal. It randomly dials people (sometimes while I'm in the middle of a conversation), the cursor jumps to the beginning of my text randomly when I'm typing, the trackball will not work (at those instances), and then it will just freeze completely and I have to pull the battery. First, has anyone heard of this? Second, since these phones can't even be FOUND anymore on the website, phonescoop, etc., will I have to call some 800 number (like I've done before with my outdated phones) in order for a replacement to be sent to ...

umm, stores may or may not have it depending on store.... I would just call if it is that much hassle to swing by a store

866-406-5154 is the easiest. A lot of stores don't carry CLNR phones especially PDAs.

Thanks, that's what I thought. It's certainly not a hassle to go to a store where I live, it's just that it's pointless if they're just going to direct me to a Verizon 800 number anyway for replacement.

you could call the store 😉

Please understand that they could possibly help you fix the issue and save you from having to get a CLNR.
Verizon relunctantly sends out CLNRs as, they will thouroughly try to find out the cause of the issue before moving to a replacement.

Thanks. I took it to a store. Miraculously it was even misbehaving in plain view of the rep (you know how it always decide to perform perfectly when you take it in for issues). They said step 1 was to reset the phone and see if that would resolve it. They said sometimes an app can cause issues but they didn't seem to think any of mine were known to be problematic. I did have to reset some things again and reinstall a lot of my must-have apps, but so far so good. They even took the extra time to get my pesky little yahoo account set up again (since there remains the issue of yahoo and verizon email not playing nice with google phones.) We'll see how it goes...
