For me, Verizon is triple the cost of AT&T for data
I have a Blackberry on Verizon and use way less than 200 MB per month of data. I have a Microsoft Enterprise Server in the office. Verizon wants $45 per month for a BES connection to this server. If I was on AT&T, it would cost me $15 per month for the BES connection (since AT&T does not charge extra for BESX; Verizon is the only carrier that does to my knowledge). Verizon is triple the cost. That is a huge difference, if I have this right, and really makes me consider changing service providers when my contract is up. Unfortunately, due to finally having all my family (located in several states) on Verizon, this decision is not as easy as it sounds (there's a reason why the carriers offer free mobile to mobile; it locks people in).

you have take into a few things in my opinion. M2m, coverage. Were I am at att has no 3g and I travel from albany ga to beaufort sc allot and att has no voice coverage on 60% of the trip and non 3g until you get close to Savannah ga. So it all depends on your situation. Tmobile is the cheapest and sprint but you have to think of the above also. I always tell people choose whats best for their situation.

Understood, but I live in a major city where both have good coverage. While I understand that nationwide Verizon's coverage is superior to that of AT&T's, at some point the cost differential (triple in this case) plays into the equation.

or just hold off because Verizon will be changing their packages in next few weeks

Yeah Verizon rips people off. AT&T has rollover, faster data, and coverage is equal to verizon.

3g coverage? i definitely not even close and voice not really. i am in the 4th largest city in GA and they have no 3g. Even tmobile has 3g here lol. and my buddy that goes with me from albany to beaufort has little to know coverage on the trip. while I have coverage the whole way and 3g at that.

When it comes to actual data speeds AT&T's 2.5G edge network is equal in speeds to verizon's 3G and AT&T's edge is the nations largest data network. Also why did verizon have to stop airing those map commericals? Because they were false and misleading.
...
what. The court ruled for verizon. It should their 3g coverage. come on how were they misleading. And their 2.5 isn't anywhere close to 3g at least here in albany ga. But it also depends cuz I get about 2 to 3 mb here in albany and was getting 4 to 5.5 in cali.

wow let me take that back I see almost 800 to 1 meg here and 1.5 to 2 in cali

also speed is really not that important when it comes to smart phones. 1 to 2 megs you can do anything you want pretty fast. I can stream video and music without any hicups and nothing else is slow. Now if I wanted a laptop or something connected speed might be a player but with caps its really makes it a non issue. Faster you go faster you hit the cap.
