Me too... You guys had a 1.6 million addition to the family... The difference is only 200,000 customers. Even though the website was not update with the total amount of subscribers, is it really THAT big of a victory? I think not, because Cingular is still on top. I checked & it said - First-quarter Verizon Wireless record of 1.64 million net customer additions, up 18.0 percent; 45.5 million total customers, up 16.8 percent I did the math &, Cingular still had 4.9 million more subscribers than you. At the end of the day... Cingular is still number 1 & that is what counts!

Network reliability counts too, as well as customer satisfaction and customer care.

Yes 45.5 mill is correct, HOWEVER dont get ****y and start stuff, its only 1 quarter.

Cingular is #1 in total customers only. VZW is beating them in adds, churn, profits, arpu gains, customer service, you name it. And who's to say VZW won't do what cingular did and write a check to buy a few million customers via merger? Yeah, everyone says the antitrust guys won't let it happen, but its not like they're going to buy a 20+ million customer national carrier like cingular did anyway. Buying just a good-sized regional would put them ahead.

Y'know actually I think its the other way around... Cingular had the momentum for one shining moment when the merger gave them all the headlines, and now they've gone and lost the momentum.

Don't get me wrong, they'll keep fighting hard, but I think it'll be Verizon's game to lose from here on out. 🙂

Ok so youre outing yourself among a bunch of strangers- why? Its not like any one really cares about what you do with other consenting adults.

The thing I asked is why do people complain about the growth not being natural. Verizons growth was not natural. They gained a large customer base the same way Cingular did... Through mergers. You can not dispute this FACT.

Now what would happen if VZW bought Alltel or U.S. Cellular? Voila, bigger than Cingular! The idiots working for Cingular do not realize that bewtween Alltel and U.S. Cellular there are over 13 million customers available using CDMA networks.

Who can Cingular buy to stay ahead??? T-Mobile already turned them down and it would be to expensive to buy a CDMA carrier and convert them.

It is only a matter of time and Cingular will be number 2 again and it must really suck for the people at Cingular knowing this and watching VZW add more customers in the first quarter.
