Audiovox 5220
Hey Y'all... So I'm putting in a computer in my car and I'm looking to get the PC card from verizon. This is the only one that was EVDO tech. which means it should be the fastest. Anyone have one that can tell me how it works and all... What is average speed for downloads and so on... Is it a pain in the butt to you when you go from High speed Comcast or something to that... I'm looking to use it for regular internet downloads, emails, the works... Also any problems or issues with it? And just a review in general. Sorry I know it's not a phone and this is all for phones and complaining what service is better but I figured I could get an answer here. I just want to get the fastest one, I can wait if anyone knows of a newer one coming out that...

The PC 5220 is complete crap. I've had one for over six months. It's a nightmare - avoid it like the plague. Terrible antenna, receive diversity on one band only, and it can't hand-off between EV-DO and 1xRTT. But mostly - the antenna is really terrible. ☹️
Verizon offers two better choices now - the Novatel V620, which is cheaper, and the Kyocera KPC650, which is faster.

not disagreeing with you rich, but faster? in what aspect? they both use EV-DO. i'll agree with your input on the 5220 though. i've seen a fair share of what you mentioned.
i've personally sold more 620 cards in the past month than i have 5220 cards for an entire year. 🤣

The Kyocera card has a higher-gain antenna and receive diversity on both bands.
A higher-gain antenna improves reception, which improves average speed. Naturally, you can't get full speed with a crappy signal, so a better antenna can improve average speed.
Receive diversity is a smart antenna technology that uses multiple antennas to boost speed and network capacity. It's common on data cards now. The 5220 has it, but it only works on the 1900 band. The Kyocera has it on both bands.
But don't just take my word - studies have been done - the KPC650 is 30-35% faster than the other cards:

awww you got to be kidding me. i just ordered one in to my store, this sucks... Darn it Darn it Darn it! Am I really really going to regret it? Man this sucks... This is going to be in my car and nver be touched again after one time... When I go to the verizon store it's so smooth and quick. what the heck, grrr... So the antenna is what just gonna break or just not as good as the Kyocera, Grrr Grrr Grrr, my verizon rep told me he loved his too... Man I dont know what to do now, I guess I could go for the 14 day trail on it to see how it really is... Hmmmmmmmmmmmm..............

Also I heard about the ummm new Sierra card, and yeah I think that is it... I want the best... I dont care about money... Plus does the antenna work for them, to make them better?
