Did anybody purchase the Droid R2-D2?

This is a brilliant stab at the nerd market, and i'm wondering how many nerds out there actually purchased this device, and if so, was it worth it?

I'm an unabashed nerd and i just ordered the phone. I've been in love with the star wars idea since the original moto droid was released.

I didn't get one, but I helped someone who did set it up.

I'm not a huge fan of the back of the device (I don't like white stuff generally) But the rest of the setup is really slick.

There is a screenprint of circuitry on the front of the phone around the screen, not to mention all the built in stuff.

With the added dock and apps, you're not really paying a "premium" for the phone either.

I'm a big fan of white. My car is white, and i generally wear white with bluejeans when i'm not in work uniform.

The only drawback that i can see having is that the Droid 2 comes with the updated MotoBlue. I much prefer Vanilla Android but i'm not sure how many devices will have Vanilla from this point forward.

Oh well, at least it will look Awesome!

1. Remove all shortcuts from your phone, all widgets as well
2. Download ADW launcher from the market.

About as close to stock as you can get.

Thanks, i'll give that a shot.

I still have a Moto Droid laying around incase i really start missing the Vanilla layout, or until somebody figures out a way around the "tripwire" in the bootloader.

I still think HTC should release the Droid Supersonic. That name kicks *Bleep* on so many levels.

If I could use it with VZ access manager to tether, I would have been camped out like the Lord of the Rings nerds.

The geek in me has absolutely flipped out.

Granted its exactly like a Droid2, but still. There's much to be said for a phone that looks and sounds like Artoo

there are also about 7-10 (i haven't counted) preloaded ringtones that are various Artoo whistles and beeps taken straight from the movies. They vary from the inquisitive beeps to the scream you hear when he gets shot out of the lake in Dagobah.
