Why did they up the activation fee? I think activation fees are BS to begin with. Its just another way to make an extra buck.

I dunno. Seems silly to me too, at first glance... upping the 2-yr activation fee but not the 1-yr is also going to drive a few more folks to 1-yr contracts. Not what you'd think Verizon would want, for sure.

Guess they want to recoup a bit of the revenue they're losing on the $9.99 add-a-line on Family Share, and upping the activation fee looks more attractive than upping the monthy fees or cutting minutes. Or subsidizing phones less.

uppin the activation fee is to do just that, recoup a bit more revenue without incesing prices on the phones. Also consider that most of the other companies are at $35.00 for activation regardless of contract length. This still gives VZW an advantage.

Another change is that now you can sign up for unlimted National Access on an aircard for only $59.99/ month, if you fee that the $79.99 for EVDO is too much. Awesome deal if you ask me.

You definite called it about the improved Western coverage. While you can't see it on the VZW website yet (got some lazy webmasters there), the new AC brochure I picked up today showed that coverage in Oregon and Southern Washington got WAY WAY better. 🙂

A lot of the improvement appears to be analog, though.

I also saw some boondocks areas in Northern California get a bit more coverage, as well as Southern New Jersey. No doubt some other states got a little love as well. Though Oregon was definitely the big winner... providing you have a trimo...
