I am getting the Droid X this weekend and was wondering if it's possible to turn off the Blur?

Glasses.

No, really, I haven't seen anything on it yet, but then again, I haven't been looking, either.

Android Central seems to think that Blur is not on that phone...

It's not full blur. It has some of the same services, but it's not quite the same OS.

Yeah.. A better term would be Blur Lite. On full blur device (like the devour) blur takes over pretty much every aspect of your phone. On Blur Lite devices, (i think people call it ninjablur) it's more like a couple widget tweaks and some social networking integration.

Ninjablur/Unicornblur/Motoblur doesn't exist on the Droid X. Motoblur is an OS from Motorola. While Android does have some similar features as ___blur, it is completely different. So, guess we are back to glasses 😳 or 😎

There's no way to remove Motorola's custom UI (Blur) from the DroidX without rooting it, which voids your warranty.

There are some thing you can take to mitigate it though:
-With the exception of your Gmail account/Backup assistant do NOT use the "add account" system to add any other accounts (like facebook) if you use this, it's using Blurs servers, which will KILL your battery. If you want facebook, download the facebook app and use that. You lose out on some of the tight integration blur gives for social networking, but you gain a lot of battery life.
-To make your phone look more "stock" download ADW launcher. You can also use Launcher Pro if you want a different look. These are alternative home launchers and will remove most ...

Droid2 has the same blur/notblur

It's still an amazing phone (the more I play with it, the more my OG droid is jealous.

so really there isnt no comparison? I ordered the droid x this week but the more i think about it the more i'm thinking that i made a mistake and should've gotten the droid 2....ah well i got 30 days to mess around with it.

No. The droidx is the same internals as Droid 2 but with a nicer screen.
