BOGO Question

Ok, here's the deal. I have 4 phones on my line, 3 are eligable for an upgrade at this time, 2 will be getting new phones this month, maybe. If I go to Best Buy I must pay the activation fee and of course sales tax (it's California after all) so I'm looking at about $85.

If I go to Vz:
Both phones still have the BIG NE2 credit (I know it's the last time), can I use one or both? Will I have to pay the activation fee (it's been a while and I can't remember anymore, sorry); of course there is still the sales tax. I'm hoping Vz is the better choice, frankly I feel more comfortable dealing with their Reps than BB's.
Thanks in advance for any help..

Afaik, there is no activation fees for upgrading any phone on any line. Unless California has a different rule about activation fees that i don't know about, you will only have to pay sales tax and the price of the device (if any after NE2) at the VZW store.

How do you have your plan set up so that you get 2 big NE2's? That sounds like either mis-information or you're spending way to much money a month on your monthly bill.

Thanks; the NE2 is grandfathered in, my account has been around since ummm 95 at least. This is the last time I can get the high NE2 and would like to get full advantage of it. The deal on a couple of DINC's look pretty good but I'm still on the fence about battery life and the new stuff coming late this year/first quarter next year. That Merge looks pretty sweet with a keyboard and world capabilities. Crap, can't make up my mind lol.

Right, i understand where the first $100 ne2 comes from, i'm just not sure where the second one comes into play.

There are some people who keep two accounts for a dual NE2 credit and/or for discount reasons. I don't realyl see any point to it personally.. but they'll chew you out if you suggest combining them.

True. They save AT LEAST $30 a month (assuming they were on the cheapest single line plan) being on a family share. That's a $600 savings by the time you get your $30 or $50 NE2 credit. So they overpay at least $550 or more.

Hopefully the original poster isn't under the impression that a secondary family share line gets NE2. Sometimes, I run into people who did an assumption of liability from a single line account to a family share secondary, and never realized that doing that cost them NE2. Still, they almost always know that they saved a ton by lowering their bill.

Thanks Menno, Epic-as usual you're right and I wasn't. Ok, I learned the hard way but like you said I have saved a ton of money over the years so que sera sera or whatever eh? Anyway, I'm going to wait for whatever comes in the first quarter, should be some nice phones.

Just remember, there's always something better on it's way. That can be either good or bad.

And there's always strength in numbers. But I've seen way too many people over the years maintaining two single lines for a discounted phone. And many times, when I literally show them the cost of two single lines versus the cost of two lines in a family share, they think I'm trying to screw them somehow. My conscience is clear... they're screwing themselves.
