Truth be told, ๐ฒ I have found that Authorized Verizon Retailer stores in Northern Nevada dont care about you. ๐ฟ The ONLY important element is making the sale...they pay 3=bucks for cheaply made accessories and sell em for 29.99. ๐ฒ With only a couple of exceptions, the only reason any staff acts like they care is cause they can and will lose their job by not meeting their closely watched quotas. ๐ฟ
They have no problem selling a 68 year old customer a droid phone thy cant use and dont want by making them feel stupid for not understanding how to use one. ๐ They have cheap phones but pretend to be out, "but here's a Droid!" Then, they often criticize and laugh at folks who leave the store cause they just wanted a b...

Thanks, Jay. I was like, "WTF is in Northern Nevada?"

Othan than Reno, and Lake Tahoe, nothing. Literally 70% of Nv's population is in Clark County, southern Nv.

I've driven from West Wendover all the way through Tahoe into California. Very little out there. Tongs of flat nothing, then something in Reno, something in Lake Tahoe, then a lot of curvy white-knuckle road through the woods until you pop out into California.

This was hilarious reading...! ๐ The west coast is not crowded like the central to eastern portions of the country, We dont live in each others back yards like back east...lots of open country...funniest comment is the part about "woods are no 'woods" out west...it's fir and pine National forests. And if you're driving though Reno from Salt Lake City to Sacramento, its called a desert. Unlike back east where everyone drives from town...

2.6 million residents, 85% of the population resides in the metropolitan areas of Las Vegas (2,282,708 in 2010) and Reno (a July 1, 2009 estimate placed the population at 471,902). Geographically covers the Mojave Desert in the south to the Great Basin in the north. with the exception of city lights, which are dramatic, most of Nevada is ugly and dead.

I've had telesales sell a 70 year old man a KintwoM, corporate stores sell old women Droid's etc.
Shady reps will be shady reps no matter WHO cuts their check. Decent reps will still be decent if they are authorized retailers or corporate workers.
As for markup on accessories.. that's standard in retail. Do you REALLY think that your tshirt costs $18 to make and ship to you?

I know, huh? Even the most irritated customer would realize they can't condemn every agent store because of the actions of one or two reps working in a single store.

Sounds like maybe an employee that got fired?
...
Okay, so are you a VZW CORPORATE employee in Northern Nevada? Something just smells about this post.
...
Oh hell no, Corporate? Take a number and deal with 20 year old rude sales people who think you're stupid cause you DON'T want a "Droid". I wouldn't sell used cars either.
Please reread the original post so you understand...I know some innocent people get into Phone sales, but cannot lie about service for the sake of a sale for very long. You must be very good at BS to last more than a few months. Having been "inside" for a while, and still trying to make something of Christmas for my family, I am looking for a real job where I dont have to lie and deceive to make a sale, then get no commission cause the bar is TOO high for such a small market as Reno, Sparks. Then, try to sell 450 bucks worth of accessories and get 0.00 commission caus...

So if you have put this much effort into your project why not just post the actual name of the authorized retailer? A quick web search yields that there are multiple agent locations in this area. If one is a problem that does not mean all are a problem.

From that last response, it sounds to me like he either applied or worked for one of the retailers in the area (or he knew someone who did) and they were either fired or pressured into quitting because their numbers were down (He knows a bit to much about quota's, markup, etc to be plain jane customer)

FYI, Menno. I'm still working there and dont want to jeopardize till I can get out of the job. AND, just so you know, there's NO big secrets in retail. When A .50 accessory is marked up to 29.99...that's a RIP OFF. So are YOU a corporate douche or a working stiff? Corporate doesn't care about you, in case you think they so. And dont get on a "high Horse", "Sir", Why defend slimy ethics? ...

You know what dude, quit if you don't like it. Have some self respect if you don't like it. But you look like a fool when you rip on ALL North NV agents because your location sucks.
I don't care what unemployment is like in your state. If you like the industry there are 27 other places in Northern NV that sell Verizon Wireless.
...
Oh, so you feel its OK to prejudiced? I'm surprised at you, ๐ฒ I mean where's your self respect? Are you offended by your assumption I'm talking about all N Nevada? Maybe I should just include ALL WIRELESS WORKERS period? ๐คฃ ....fool ๐ณ

Nice try there with the spin attempt.

Almost everything has big markup in retail with the exception of electronics. Apparently Jack you don't know much about retail. See, there is no profit in selling phones or game consoles. The companies make their profit in accessories. Those thing, you buy them really cheap from the manufacturer and then sell them at great profit to make up for the loss you take in the devices. That $2 drink you bought at your favorite fast food place has about $.03 cost in it. The extra set of headphones you bought for your mp3 player has about 80% mark-up. Wake up! No company, Big or small can make money without big mark-ups. You are very naive to think otherwise.

So you're complaining about your own coworker? How rich! Why don't you file a complaint with your manager instead of vilifying the job that's paying you money (I don't care if you think it's a step above unemployment - it's STILL better than not having a job).
There's no excuse for an employee acting in such a derogatory way, and it is on your shoulders to report it. If your manager won't do anything, talk to their manager. That single employee's actions are inexcusable.
After that, everything else you're droning on about is a waste of time. Markups are a part of any business. As someone else already mentioned, every business has their high-markups, their low margins, and their losses. I've been in two other industries before ...

Woooooow. Ok, so you still work there. Have you tried reporting to managers, or HR, etc? I mean, it doesn't do any good to complain on here if that hasn't been done. I worked at some horrible places, but I've never gone online to bash them either. I understand your frustrated, but it probably would have been better to not post, especially since you're still employeed there and it could get you in a lot of trouble if they find out who you are. All they have to do is search the area for reps who have low quotas and you'd better hope you aren't on phonescoop while at work, otherwise they can track what you're doing online. Just saying, once its on the internet it's forever.

I was great at sales. I sold them in my sleep and I didn't lie or steal sales. I hated it though. I will admit. Glad handling is just something I detest. Feels so fake.
...
I've worked in the cell phone industry for 3 years and I'm not shady or good at "bs". I'm honest and sell people what they NEED, not what the latest and greatest is. I've worked corporate and I've worked third party, and others here are right when they say there are bad reps EVERYWHERE, no matter who they're employeed by. You could go into ANY chain and see the same thing. There are crap wal-mart reps and there are good ones, there are crap car sales men and good ones, it just depends on where you go. And even if this store really is that bad, so say that the only people who make it in the cell phone industry is pretty close minded.
...
and just to add to my post, whenever a customer gets a "bad deal" or they feel they got screwed over, it's because they were looking for a deal too good to be true, instead of dealing with a rep who was honest. I see it over and over again where customers say "oh, I thought i was getting a good deal but they lied to me - etc etc etc" and so I ask what the deal was and they say "Oh it was supposed to be 'two droid x's with car chargers, cases, and a credit on my bill of 100 dollars and it wouldn't cost me anything". Get real, it's not always the "reps". If you dealt with the rep who was honest and told you everything up front instead of trying to scam there wouldn't be "Sharks" out there who KNOW that you'll jump on the first "good deal" you ...

Here you say Verizon sucks. So which is it?
As an employee, it's a job in the poorest job market in the USA. Just a half step above unemployment benefits, really.
As a customer, well Verizon is OK, but dealing with store reps who have poor attitude's about using a feature phone over the more commission phone like droids is ridiculous. Maybe where you live, life is a bed of roses, but here gambling is way down and the whole economy relies on gambling tourism.

What are you Harry Reid? You completely avoided the question.

Verizon DOES suck. But then...ALL carriers do. It's a choice between *Bleep* and other *Bleep*. Choose your poison... All of it kills you.
