So my wife has verizon service and she is due for an upgrade. We are thinking about either upgrading her line and sticking with verizon another two years or switching her to my dealer plan with tmo. So heres my question. She loves sense ui and gets on facebook all the time and games. She hates the way android ui looks. I refuse to let her upgrade to the incredible since it is so old and its likely to be phased out in 4 or 5 months. We are looking at the droid x but if there is something out there worth waiting for i would love to know. Especially if it has sense ui.
...
HTC Merge is still hot on the rumor plate.
Or you could run with the Droid X and run the ADW launcher on it like I did for my wife's X. It adds a lot of the Sense UI features to any Android.
But, Moto's stock facebook integration is pretty good. If that's a factor, she might choose to stick with the stock UI.
Of course, all of this pales in comparison to RIM's facebook app. I have lots of reasons to be dissatisfied with RIM, but their facebook integration is the best I've seen for what I use facebook for (actually following people I know but have lost touch with). Might want to consider a Bold or the new Curve if facebook is more important than Android's app superiority.
...
Yeah i saw the merge but called verizon and they have no info whatsoever on it and that doesnt help me. We are both EXTREMELY tired of her Droid Eris and her upgrade is due in 3 days. Facebook app integration isnt a big deal its mainly the way the homescreens look with the Sense UI that she likes. I know it seems insignificant but you know women lol. And i would NEVR buy a blackberry or allow her to buy one lol.
...
Never "allow her" to buy or pick out her own phone? This has to be a joke. wtf.
...
yeah i lock her in the bedroom when im not home too!! Dude get a life do you not see the "lol" afterwards. And i didnt say i wouldnt allow her to buy or pick her own phone. First of all im paying for it as im the sole provider for my family and secondly i said she wouldnt get a blackberry and she wouldnt want one either. But ive wasted enough time on you seriously if you dont have anything intelligent to add go somewhere else

Perhaps he is an irascible RIM advocate?

If they were getting that phone, it would be out by now. If they launch it after christmas it will be overshadowed by 4g phones, so it either needs to be refitted for LTE, or it's dead before it gets here.
Which is sad because I REALLY wanted that phone
...
Crud-me too!!! Coming from a BBS1 it seems the most logical step into Android, Bing and all (ugh). This looks to be a great great phone, so sad, so sad. Pisses me off too lol. There seems to be a lot of room in Vz's stable for a phone like this, LTE will take a while to integrate and this looks to be a winner.

I'm currently trying to nab a DINC for sub 300 to hold me out until LTE
...
Yeah they said if the merge is gonna be an lte phone (which from what i read it is) then it will be like feb or march before it launches
...
Really!? That's good to hear, I' like to hold out for this phone, to me it looks like a DINC with a keyboard and sim capability, imo. Worth waiting for.

The merge was unbelievable. If it launched last month it would be this season's must buy. as it stands now.. it's going to be meh compared to other LTE devices. Don't get me wrong, this thing feels AMAZING in the hand. It's fast, perfect weight (it's heavier than a lot of phones, which I prefer) and the keyboard is just amazing.. but by the time this has LTE, it will be competing with the Incredible HD, the LG Star (no idea who will get this) and the like. by that time, the high end merge becomes a midline device
...
Yeah, I know you're right but still...for me this looks to be perfect; I'm not all that sold on LTE just yet and besides how high end can it be if they Binged it eh?lol At midstream the price could be a bit sweeter too.

the fascinate is binged remember
...
Yeah, but that's not a good thing imo. I truly don't like to use Bing; Vz forced it out to my Storm1, I just hid the icon in a downloads folder and went on my merry way; not like here where they force the default search to Bing-crappy idea. Still, even with Bing I'd buy the Merge in a heartbeat. Seems to me there's still going to be lots of room in Vz's tent for non LTE phones next year. Despite all the hoopla (and rightly so) about LTE I bet most phones sold next year will be good old dumb phones, most people won't really start to care for a while although BB could stage a comeback in the second half of 2011 if they get their new OS on enough phones. Looks like a fun year.

I haven't seen you on PS in a while.

'Ya, actually I've been pretty busy at work, who woulda guessed eh lol. Still keep coming and checking every day, just too lazy to comment.

I've owned this phone for three months, and never used the search key for anything but sifting through the contact list.
I thought being "Bing'd" would ruin the phone for me. It hasn't.
I just set Google as my browser home page and placed a bookmark to Google on my home screen. I never use the search key. It's never been an issue.
Now, for all the people out there that are too stupid to set up a bookmark icon on the home page- it might be an issue.

I was using it more to refer to his comment of "How high end can a phone be if it has bing."
I consider the fascinate high end, and it has bing.

What's the deal? Are you no longer happy with the original Motorola Droid?

I am interested to find out if the 1ghz snapdragon processor does anything to load webpages faster.
Did you get it on ebay? How do you know the ESN is clean?

I got it from a reseller with a very high rating. the reseller has a 30 day return window.
If you're buying from a smaller retailer, it's best to get the esn from them then call verizon and have them check it.

Did you read that email I sent you someone get 45mb/s on Vzn's LTE network in Dallas?

yeah I saw it.
Jay think about this:
They're just rolling it out now. the LAST thing they want is a ton of people on it at the holidays and to have it crash.
With these posted speeds, can you imagine what the press will do if Verizon decides to raise caps in a few months/year?
...
Umm, I don't know what the press might say.
But what I would say is that if the caps were raised then the LTE network would actually be USABABLE for what speed is for, multimedia, video, right now the way the caps are, 10gb/mo isn't enough for video.

Come on Supersonic (Incredible HD)!!!
...
Just because the Incredible might be phased out in 4 or 5 months doesn't make it a bad phone or lacking in anything. It's a good little phone. It's got current specs for any current Android phone, not really sure how much she'd gain by the next newer model.
...
It's a fantastic phone. But she's "not allowed" to have it. 🤣
