Okay so Verizon has all but done away with the NE2 buyback program....Does that mean I have at least one more shot to get a phone at the NE2 deal or is it gone forever?

Yes, you have one more NE2 upgrade available for you. 20 months from when you last upgraded, you'll be able to use the NE2 one last time. but you only have 6 months to use it (so 20 months to 26 months)

But I HIGHLY suggest you consider forgoing it and getting an annual upgrade instead. It's only $70 more, and you can get a new phone every 10 months.

I believe that he is advising you to sign one year contracts rather than go with the NE2. You'll pay seventy dollars more than the two year price of the device, but you will be eligible to upgrade every ten months. The problem with signing a two year contract is that the phone has a one year warranty. Unless you pay for an Extended Warranty you are SOL from 13 to 20 months.

I gotcha.....It actually does make sense to do it that way. I mean I love Verizon and to get the latest/greatest I can sign up for a year and every 10 months get the latest/greatest so it will work out.

Thanks,
THis is just the info I was looking for. I have the year contract now, and it is time to get a new phone, but I am going to wait on the Bionic. I have 2 questions so far about that:
1. Can I transfer my apps a data from my Droid to my new smartphone?
2. What is the Apple hotspot, and will the Droid have the same thing? Is there an additional fee for this? Having the ability to connect my laptop via my phone might make me jump from the Droid to the iPhone...if its included in the monthly fee.
I already have pdanet and that works ok.

1. Enter your Gmail address on your new device, Your contacts, profiles, and paid apps will sync with your new device. You might have to redownload the paid apps, but they will be in your "My apps" tab in the market and you will NOT have to pay for them again. Greatest thing about android? OTA Syncing.

2. Apple hotspot is EXACTLY like the mobile hotspot you can currently get on the Droid2, Incredible, Droidx, and pretty much all newer android phones (they couldn't find a safe way to do it on the original droid without rewriting a good chunk of the core OS) Like the mobile hotspot on android devices, there will be an extra cost to get the iPhone hotspot working (unless they drop unlimited data). So don't switch to iOS just for that....

It will.

All people who don't have a NE2 eligible yet will only have 6 months once the upgrade becomes available to use it. if they don't use it, they lose the NE2 credit and just get normal upgrade pricing.

What remains to be seen is if they will give existing customers only a limited amount of time to use their current upgrades before they lose them.

For YEARS it's stated in the worry free guarentee that you may only have 6 months to use the NE2 credit. They're just starting to enforce it now.
