Just received my Verizon iPhone

So...I have been waiting to get my iPhone. Just received it. Now I am in the process to activate it. Well, no luck so far. Everything seemed to work fine until the activation part. It failed, so it said to call 1-800-922-0204. I called it. They said to call it from a landline. I don't have another line to use. Then they said to try and dial *228 from the iPhone (with my old phone off, of course). Since this is an iPhone, the old fashioned *228 didn't work. I am one of millions who doesn't have a land line. Good luck to me to try and activate this phone. Wow, good start Verizon. Looks like I will have to wait to activate it when I get another phone on hand. Any one else have any problems?

So, I called Verizon back. Here is what happened. Since I was grandfathered in previous plans, and you must have the 29.99 plan for data for smartphones in which I did not have, the system did not update it automatically. She had to manually change it. For those who had to select a new plan online when ordering, you may have this issue. Just call customer service, and they will change it since you must be on that data plan currently for it to activate. After that, the *228 will work. Thanks!

What plan did you have before?

The online system requires anyone who goes through an online order to chose an appropriate plan, even if the one you already have is fine.

He had no plan, $9.99 plan, or $15 plan before.
