4G Phone on Family Plan

I currently have a two line family plan and am wondering how it would work if/when I want to add a 4G phone. I see it's already possible to upgrade to the Thunderbolt and apparently I would only need to add a larger data option.
I thought though that 4G plans were different and possibly cheaper than the current plans..? Currently it looks like I can add the 4G device and keep the same plan. So, are the plans going to change and when they do will it be necessary for all devices on a 4G family plan to be 4G capable? I'm wondering if down the road the phone on the second line will also need to be upgraded. Hope this is clear 🙂

There is no dif as of yet but only time will tell if the change it. Get it now while they still offer the 29.99 unlimited data plan. There are no "4g" plans as of yet.

At this point, a 4G phone is handled no differently than anything else, plan-wise. That may change in the future, but who knows if or when. If you have the $29.99 unlimited data plan when things change, you won't be forced into a change until the next time you buy a new device.

I've heard some talk about tiered data plans. Does it seem like the $29.99 unlimited data is going away "real soon now"?

It looks that way. Either that or a very clever marketing strategy to get customers to sign up for smartphones while it is "still" unlimited. If it IS a marketing scam, I give crazy kudos to the *Bleepard* who thought of it. Not as awesome as the guy who added "Repeat" to the shampoo bottles but I'm just saying.
