Tuning phones??

This is just a question I've had for a couple days, and being in the GSM biz myself, I have no clue as to how it works...

I was speaking with a customer the other day that unfortunately was having some problems with his phone, and we had to troubleshoot and determine he needed a new phone etc....

Well, this guy was smart as hell, and pretty tech savvy. He was telling me how he used to have vzw, and moved outside of the coverage area and that's how he ended up with T-Mobile but was asking me if we can "tune" his phone like vzw did...SO...I had of course no idea what he was talking about I asked him to elaborate...He said that if thre was ever a service issue in his area, the same area he's been all along, his phone would start dropping ...

OK, with cdma they have to download the current irdb version thats what they are doing in the phone too see if he has the current one! as far as repositioning the tower that is someone feeding a load of crap ! the only time a engineer is going to reposition a tower is if there is a substantial number of complaints in the same area or that tower with the same problem . Believe me their not going to reposition that tower for mr special customer

I agree about the tower, it would be nice if they did that but it is completly out of the question.
