I am a current Verizon customer eligible for New Every 2 $100 credit. I am an independent contractor who uses phone for business. I was told by CSR that I'd be ineligible for business pricing because I don't have a Tax ID#. Anyone out there have any suggestions/tips on purchasing this phone at best possible cost?

Well NE2 is for consumer accounts only so it's a better deal to use that with the 2 year price and get it for $299.

I'm not sure what area you're in, but in the west area the NE2 discount can be combined with business pricing of handsets.

I am also in the west area. I just asked my supervisor the other day and they confirmed that NE2 is a consumer only plan.

Since you are not receiving a business discount, the NE2 price will be your best deal.

Independent contractors can incorporate locally for a relatively few dollars. Then you will be able to file for your Federal Tax ID (FID) number. Check with an attorney or accountant about the advantages or disadvantages in your particular tax situation.

best way to do this is go get the NE2 discount and also sign up for Unlimited Data plan, and get 10$ credit in store so total discount is 200$. Then if you want to turn it into a business acct to get business price plan pricing go and get your Tax ID and give it to them then. Most of the time i see business accts get 1yr contracts and disconts on accessories so they should manually change your contract to a 1yr at the 2yr pricing.

i think you have to have 5+ lines to get any sort of business discount. if the treo's your only line, you're eligible for consumer pricing.

If an employer has a business agreement with VZW to provide their employees a discount, then their employees will get a business discount.
