Danthalas

Any verizon reps out there? know when Verizon is releasing any new phones that are actually worthy to buy. I need a new phone badly and I dont want to buy whats out now, cause Im sure some phones are around the corner. But how long should I wait?

You would think that companies would want to announce their releases in advance with at least tentative dates to generate some buzz with their customers. But it is pretty clear that Verizon wants to milk as many sales out of their existing line of phones from people who walk in off the street and don't know about future phones AS WELL as people like me who wait wait wait for the new phones but need to upgrade asap because my current one is failing. They have it worked out that a certain percentage of people like me will get tired of waiting and break down and buy last generation of product right before it gets reduced in price.

If they gave a release date, even a very conservative one that they will probably beat, then I would at least ...

they may be a money grabber but they give better service then Cingular and Nextel. They have more coverage and less drop calls. And I don't really feel as though they are a money grabber. I have heard people complain about there bills from Cingular.

Aren't nearly ALL companies "money grubber" companies? As in, they want to make a profit? 😳

The only exception I can think of to that are the non-profits. But I don't know of any wireless carriers that are non-profit.

Making a profit and treating your customers as a "business partner" are not mutually exclusive. You can maintain good customer service, have transparency and geniunely get your customers excited all while reaping large profits.

Yup... and Verizon seems to do exactly that, as refelected by their record-low churn rate/ very high customer loyalty, and their high customer service ratings. 🙂

Really? The only time I've ever had my contract extended was when I changed plans. And they informed me about it before the fact, not after.

Stop drinking the haterade. Its making you woozy. 😉

IT IS RIDICULOUS THAT YOU HAVE TO EXTEND YOUR CONTRACT FOR TWO YEARS IF YOU WANT TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF A BETTER PLAN. BY THE WAY, IF YOU COMPLAIN ABOUT IT, THE REPS CAN CHANGE THAT. SHADY SHADY SHADY!

You never have to extend your contract for two years with just a price plan change. If you are in the last year of your current Contract then you would have to extend it for ONE year not two.

Yeah I would have called into customer service for that. Any change that constitutes a renewal is only suppost to be a year extension

You know that since you wanted to be switched to a one year contract you are going to loose your new every ywo elig. I guess if it is worth it to you to loose a $100.00, than the one year is fine. The rep was just trying to not have you loose anything that you are entitled too.

WRONG!

With Cingular you can change your plan when ever you want.
A contract (1yr) may be required depending on your previous contract.

Basicly if your within the first 1/2 of your contract (1yr or 2yr) then you can change your plan without a contract extention and still get promo elements (M2M, rollover)

If your in the 2nd half of your contract a 1yr contract is required to get any promo elements. You can still change without contract extention if you pick a plan without promos but you do lose what ever promos your old plan had.

Get it...

How is it 'shady' when they TELL YOU UP FRONT that changing plans will extend your contract? That isn't shadiness, that's you not liking their policy. So what? You don't have to worry about it, since you've said you hate Verizon anyway. 🙄

Give that, did you come here just to whine and cry about a company that you never intend to use? There are better hobbies, y'know. Like hand-grenade volleyball.

And where is your proof on this?? When I call in the rep always informs me that there may be a contract extension on certain changes. I'm not saying that it might not happen but it's a case by case you can't just use a blanket statement like that and expect people to believe it

If Verizon tells the public even a tentative date for the release of a product and then there's an issue that prevent it's release then they have people saying "You said it would be available" blah blah blah.

It has nothing to do with selling older phones. Verizon has great coverage and few dropped calls for most people.

The industry as a whole is the same no matter what carrier you're talking about. They all have contracts.... 39.99 49.99 59.99 plans, free Nights and Weekends and of course the big early termination fee. Oh and they all have there share of crappy phones too.

People need to stop their complaining about one carrier over another because they're all the same in those repects.

Since everyone has simliar plans, fea...

Have you ever heard of a company not being money grubers? That is all that business are about. Only money. They do different things to get money but in the end what a company does is not for you its for them. If making you happy makes them money they will do it.

Is having a general, tentative date range for the phone to be released and then having that date pushed back due to complications worse than not telling any info at all? I would always prefer to have info rather than lack of it, even if its bad news. If it gets scrapped, let the customers know. Basically it boils down to transparency. Lots of companies talk about products way in a advance of release and give tentative dates. Again, this is undoubtably to generate sales for aging products.

Well, GSM does have a few things over CDMA... like hard hand-offs that help you drop more calls. And a lower tolerance for weak signals. 😉

Seriously, why would I ever want to go GSM? In my neck of the woods, Verizon blows doors on both Cingy and T-Mobo.

Agreed. I have had both VZW and Cingular. IMO I think sound quality and dropped or "lost" call rate is better on VZW. (In my area at least)

Worthy phones are good quality phones. Not some $120 phone that actual is worth like 50 bucks. Verizon over price their phones by alot. Also Verizon makes billions of dollars, why cant they get some nice phones for the tech geeks like myself and many others out there. It would many many people happy and keep there customers. The only phone out there that is worth mentioning is the E815, but nobody knows if that phone is ever coming out.

man, i hate to say this but you have got no clue to the industry. I've read some of your comments and they are totally stupid. One do your research and you may find they already and have had one of the best phones out there, Mot V710. In all actuality, the 710 is the CIng RaZr phone with a fatter case. Same features and all and its only 150$. Also the LG6100 is a good phone for most users as is the SAm670. The reason VZW doesn't give out dates as to when phones are to be released is due to the fact that they are testing them out like a mad scientist to insure it meets VZW standards. And you pay for what you get. I would not suggest getting a cheapo 3200 cause they're crap. I'm not sure what you think is quality but phones like the 6...
