Can I get maps to appear on a phone?
OK, I admit once again to complete ignorance.
Is it possible to buy a phone or service that will allow me to see a map on my phone? Kind of like Mapquest? It would be very, very useful when I am traveling to look up the address of a restaurant and be able to get a local map so I could find it.
If it IS possible, could someone tell me what phone will do that and also has analog coverage (tri-mode)?

Go with the LG6100. You can purchase a version of Mapquest through get it now for $3.99 a month that will give you all the directions you want.

It will give you direction, but i don't think it will show an actuall map on your screen, but I saw there should be some new get it now apps using lbs, maybe some of theose will show actual map, if that is what you are asking?

No, mapquest will do both on your phone, it will give you directions as well as an actual street by street map, I have used it on several occasions and it has worked quite well

Mapquest mobile worked on my Treo 600. I just got back from holiday in Phoenix and I used it a good bit and it displayed street level maps as well as directions. On my LG VX4500 from what I can tell just displays directions... I haven't been able to get maps up on it... ditto for my Kyo KX414.

yeah i am not sure which models will do what, I can't remember, but i am pretty sure it was my 6100 that would not show the actual map, it was a few months back though and it could have been my 4500 or my 8000, can't remember?
