My prediction
I bet in the peeps that have the unlimited data grandfathered will have to lose it in the future, to take advantage of whatever promos are available at that time. Kinda like the old America's Choice to the crappy Nationwide plans (pay as you go data, 1.99 per mb to surf media center catalog vs airtime)
I bet the employees get the shaft first. Prolly without any promos.
They have to gouge our eyes out for data, 'coz VOip would have otherwise made calling too affordable to the average Joe.
I won't get too comfortable with my grandfathered unlimited data.

That would be a tough one to keep out of court, especially since there will have been people who were grandfathered on multiple devices without issue. They would have to require an entirely new price plan which bundles data and voice together, or they'd have to be able to prove that a major update in technology required the change.
This feature has already been grandfathered once to limit legal liability, which shows their concern aside from profits.

Isn't that what vzw always does?
I will admit, your doubt makes me feel better, as you are an expert.

A few years back when we went from America's Choice to Nationwide plans, they said it was to better represent the billing of more advanced features. In other words, they didn't want to bill minutes anymore, but a raw $2/meg rate, to cover a much improved web browsing experience. There was a cause to the change, which they exploited.
It seems to me that forcing someone off of a specific feature, when there's no fundamental difference between the previous phone...

Plus, think how AT&T wanted to make it so you lose grandfathered unlimited data when upgrading to a 4G phone... that was the plan, but there was such an uproar (I do believe, at least, wasn't really paying attention) that they changed their mind on that.
