LTE SMS Problems?
I've noticed sometimes when I receive a text from someone with a VZW LTE phone, I'll get a double message. As if they sent the same one twice, and they show up at the same time.
Wondering if this is a quark with VZW new LTE? 😕

I have a Vzn LTE smartphone, Droid Charge, and I haven't heard of anybody complaining about that with me.

I've not heard of that, but I'm not surprised.
The LTE architecture used in cellular doesn't have "native" SMS capabilities. It's not build into the operating standard like 2G and 3G networks. First Generation LTE networks go through some convoluted process to "convert" a text message into "SMS format" so that it can be handled by the servers.
I won't pretend to understand ALL the details, but complex SMS support was one of the primary arguments NOT to adopt LTE as a common next generation standard.

Don't think is has anything to do with 4G vs 3G. I have a Samsung Fascinate and people have told me that they have received the same text twice even though I only sent it once.

Texts are sent via 1X like voice. Even if you're on LTE you still have a 1X connection for voice so text should still travel via that like on any other phone.

More than likely, your phone has shifted into roaming mode temporarily. When that happens, your native network and the roaming partner will both deliver the message to you. Happens more often on Sprint, especially in fringe areas.
