I wouldn't forsee any problems with activating it. Especially if you do it via MyAccount. I don't think you can just have text service on a line though.

I'm not sure if it's changed or not, and I do not work for vzw, but I'm pretty sure too that if the phone was last used on an account that is past due/delinquent/writen off they won't activate it, so get the esn and call cust care to check to make sure it's clear, too.

That policy is only for new activations. I asked about this specifically the other day. You aren't allowed to start new service with a non-E911 phone. If you still have one of those old phones, you can program it to your account no problem. You will most likely have to manually program the device and that may or may not go smoothly.

that was the policy until June 5th, since then the policy is they wont even do an ESN swap to a non GPS phone, the system will actually block phones that are non GPS and we cant over ride them anymore, if you go to the home page for this site it explains the reasoning in more detail as one of the news breifs, it has to do with making sure 95% of phones on the network are GPS by the end of the year, they wont reacivate and onlder non GOS because that is taking a step backwards

Not that I am aware of, all the PDA phones are very similar, such as the Treo's since they have a key board and can type just like the 200
