Wow-bad service yesterday from Verizon, caused them to lose a sale also....

I have the LG VX-8000 and am now getting my THIRD phone in 5 months due to software issues. I took this (2nd one) into the store, earlier in the week, and was told they need to replace it but they didn't have any in stock. I called Customer Service and they noted in my account that I would try another 8000 and if it glitches again then I can try another phone. I called Customer Service yesterday to see if that was still the case since I haven't swapped out #2 for #3 because the store is still out of refurbished stock. The CS clown told me that that was not the case and that I would have to keep replacing the phone (for 1 yr) until I could change equipment. He was rather rude and I will be sending in a complaint to Verizon.

The sad thing is that I went back into the store to find out when they will be getting REFURBISHED 8000's and by this time I was pretty hot under the collar. The cs counter is next to tech support and there was a customer there purchasing an 8000. The tech in front of me was trying to tell me (loudly) how great this phone is/was. The customer purchasing the 8000 asked me what I thought of the phone and I told him (about the phone and Verizon's support policy). I think he wound up asking the rep to hold off on the sale as he wanted to rethink about the 8000.

I have always gotten great service from Verizon but to have to change phones 3 times in 5 months is really just plain stupid.

Ok BK. Unfortunately you seem that have hit a bad run of 8000's. Our entire sales force and managers have the 8000 series phone. VZW cut us a deal to USE the phones so we can demo and sell them. Every single one out has worked flawlessly.

I'm very glad that VZW is exchanging your phone out for you. Please keep in mind that VZW does NOT manufacture these phones. VZW purchases them from LG Electronics. These phones have a manufacturer warranty for a basic one year. IF a phone is defective, technically you are to go through LG Electronics. As a courtesy, VZW has (and most likely will) continue to swap/repair/exchange your phone regardless of issue.. unless it is lost/stolen or exposed to liquids.

As is the policy of VZW, the direct stores...

Oh sorry, the issue with the phone is that it would keep resetting itself whenever I accessed a get-it-now feature. The tech support person at Verizon noted the phone had version 4 and current versions are at 5. He tried to download the upgraded software and the phone rejected it which is what my previous phone did. I wound up losing my entire contact list since the phones won't transfer that information.

Actually the guy that asked about the phone was exchanging another phone for the 8000 and I honestly couldn't recommend it.

OK, I'm not sure where you are but on the West coast we have a multi replacement policy. Basically 3 strikes and your out. If you've had 1-your original phone, 2-a replacement, 3-another replacement, then we upgrade you to a new phone comparable to the one you had. Without changing any dates on your current contract. Now don't get to excited, there is a specific chart that says if you had an 8000 then you will get the specific handset that VZW says. NOT the one of your choice. It maybe the Samsung 890 but DO NOT take the 8940. I would advise you to call your local VZW store manger just be nice on the phone and ask for him or her and ask if the policy applies in your area.

Also sales people are not customer service... sales people don't give a flying dollar what happens to you when you leave the store...... That is why we have customer service and technicians.

not true, I work in sales and when I close a deal, I care about my customer until the day comes that they will no longer shop with me. If you have that mentality then you wont get referrals or the customer may never come back to do business with you. I was very nice to a customer 2 years ago, their daughter who did not have credit established wanted an alltel account and dad put it in his name. 2 years later they are out of their verizon contracts and they came back and personaly asked for me and on my days...
