If you are filing an insurance claim the company will send you a replacement phone (NOT a new phone)of the exact same phone. Unless the phone is no longer produced then they will send you one of similar feature. There is no way to buy your way up to a different phone. BTW if your phone is broken, cracked screen, broken hinge, water damage, something you caused, then you need to call the insurance provider. If it is a workman ship issue, the speaker went out, the buttons don't work correctly, software issue, then you can go to your local VZW corporate store and do the insurance claim. That is if you truly have the 'total equipment coverage' it it $5.99 per month on your bill.

I am so sick of customers asking this. "Well, I broke my cheap piece of crap so can't I just use my insurance to get a different phone." No! No! No! If you total your Chevy Metro do you think the insurance company is going to allow you to get a Corvette instead by paying a few extra dollars? Hell no! Guess what - the insurance company is going to replace it with the same model or something comparable - don't like it? Buy another one. "But I don't want to have to pay full price!" Tough nuggets. I do a lot of things I don't want to - it's called life! Learn to live it.
Sorry for the rant - couldn't help it.

well, I dont know about this guy's case, but, comparing the car insurance to the phone insurance is not an equal comparison.

Phone insurance sends you a replacemnt phone of what you have, the same phone or something comparable to what you have.

Car insurance does not send you a replacement, they give you the value of the car at the time of loss. This is where the difference comes in, with car insurance, you can get whatever car you want with the insurance money, you may have to kick some more money in with it, but, you do not have to get the same car you had at time of loss.

Now, if customers are wanting to move up to the next model of phone at no charge with the insurance, then, no, that would be a dumb move on the insurace compan...
