I just switched to Verizon Family plan and love the overall deal.In tex and Picture for $5.00 Great!!
One problem, the sound is not as clear as what I got with T-moble. I purchased two V-815 and a V 265. Love the V 815 features and that's why I switched , but the sound is allot less clear.
Has anyone else noticed this? Is this a location thing? I get a full signal at home with T-Moble and about half as much with Verizon. I expected Verizon to be better all around and was surprised about the sound clarity.
Any ideas? 😕

I'm in the Kansas City area. Verizon has the best call quality in this area, followed by Cingular. I have a few friends who use T-mobile, and I believe they have better coverage than Sprint or Nextel, but the sound quality, when I'm talking to a T-mobile user, is definitely subpar.

Simply put, no company is better then another. Yes ppl say Verizon is the best but its not the best every where in the US. In your area, it seems GSM would be a better route to go with then CDMA. We have areas like that over here. On one side of town, GSM/TDMA/IDEN dominates any CDMA carrier there, but on the other side, CDMA rules. Look at NC's digital coverage for verizon. They only cover half the state while alltel covers all, so just keep in mind one company maybe good for one person but to another that company simply sucks. Im not saying Verizon sucks as its great in the location Im in butits not the best every where.

I have noticed the same thing with Alltel, I use GSM on Cingular, but my mom still uses an Alltel phone until she can switch, both phones get a full signal where I live, because they are transmitted both from the same tower about a mile away, whenever I use Alltel the sound is much more distorted than when I use Cingular and they both have full signals, Im not saying that GSM is better I'm just saying that in my experience GSM has clearer call quality.

I'm not a rep, but if I were to guess I'd say it could well be your phone.

My friend and me did some fairly nitpicky A/B phone testing when she dumped ATTW/Cingular and went with Verizon in my area (really suprised the rep didn't yell at her, as we took our time doing this), and the 265, while ok-sounding, just didn't have the same sound quality as some other better phones she tried, such as the Samsung 670. On the 265, we had to repeat ourselves sometimes. On the 670, never, it sounded pretty close to landline actually.

I don't have any experience with the 815, but it could be the same deal there... maybe Moto's having a hard time making good-sounding CDMA phones lately? All I know is that Samsung isn't having any probs there, my Sam...

Thank you for taking the time to share you thoughts on this subject. I am committed to staying with Verizon. I love the $5.00 In tex and Picture message deal.
The V 815 has so maney great features that I can not bring myself to switch to another phone.(this is my second one)I love the voice dial feature. It really works well! Bluetooth also is improved over the V600. The screen is clear and bright. I must have bluetooth for my car to link up so that leaves me with the V 710 or what I have. From all I have read the 815 is a upgrade from the 710.
I guess I can live with the less than clear sound. It is not all the time.
