I need some help...I just purchased the E815 today. Seems great so far with tons of bells and wistles, most of which i wont use. That being said, I have 15 days to return it if i choose and am wondering whether Verizon will be coming out with any new phones in the near future. My only prob with the 815 is the size. Its not huge, its just that I like a smaller/thinner phone. (I've been using the old motorola flip - looks like the 2way phone and really like the size of it.) Any chance the Razr will be available in the next 6 mos? Anyone aware of any other top of the line phones coming out?
Also, I've been reading threads about enabling the Bluetooth and the OBEX. Not quite sure what everyone is talking about...anyone who could explai...

The LG VX8100 is coming out this Friday. When it arrives at your Verizon Store, go check it out. You can make the decision for yourself between the two phones. Personally I am gonna go for the LG.

The 815 looks nice, so do the online pictures and specs for the LG 8100, but I wish Verizon would offer a phone like these without a camera, instead of the old, barely basic junk.
The 815 and 8100 have nice large color screens, (not like the 260) great for us old guys who just talk and text, good talk and standby time, but there are places I go for work where I can't take a camera. Besides, why bother with a 1.3 camera when 5 - 7 megapixels are so cheap these days.
I know the answer: the ability to send pictures and video is high profit without having to add infrastructure, especially when the novelty wears off in a few weeks.
Still, I would pay $ 200 for one of the above without a camera. I won't pay $500 for the other high serv...

I COMPLETELY AGREE!!
the camera is a meaningless gimmick...the novelty wears off in about 25 mins...i just want a small phone that works and looks decent - ive had the 815 for 3 days now and ive misssed a number of calls on it - besides that the reception is decent, but not spectacular as others have written - i did get it for free, but would rather use my 100 credit for a better option...i am def thinking about returning it and sticking with my motorola v60 or whatever the small, non-color flip phone is...
i live in the phila area - can anyone give me some comparison of verizon v. cingular??? im tempeted to mk switch

Which service are you already with? I can't give you a complete breakdown between the two services but Cingular and Verizon are both rather strong in Philadelphia. As you would imagaine though, there are certain locations where either Verizon or Cingular outshines the other. I personally use Cingular and have been through Philly without any problems but I'm going to have to say that I would go with Verizon if you want the best service possible there.

i currently am with verizon and have been for the past 7 yrs - the service is good and which is the most important factor to me - that being said, as i have stated above, i hate their phones - they just don't compare to the competitors. i just bought the newest one, the 815, and it really isnt anything special - if cingular service is just as good as verizon around here, then i'm going to seriously consider the move...i know all u verizon dealers out there will defend their phones, but ur just denying the facts -

I totally agree with you on Verizon's phone selection. I only suggested that you use Verizon because they might present fewer problem areas throughout the city, although Cingular doesn't have many either. Both companies offer great service there though, so the difference may be something you never even notice. If you are looking for a better phone and want to keep the quality service that you had with Verizon, then I would totally agree with your decision to move to Cingular.
Good luck. 🙂
