I know Cingular charges me in kilobytes whenever I connect to MEdia Net to download ringtones and stuff; but they use EDGE.
How does VZW charge though? Are they gonna charge me by the minute whenever I use EV-DO? help!

Media Net must be the equivalent of Get It Now. Verizon only charges minutes while you are browsing and downloading. It's unlimited at night and on the weekend though due to calling plan promotions.

If you get an EVDO phone and the Vpack, you get unlimited anytime use of data. This makes use of V-Cast, Mobile Web, and browsing Get it Now all free and unlimited.

So, let me get this straight... What's the purpose of getting the Vpack when you can do the same after 9pm? Am I missing something here? I must be missing something.

Without the Vpack, you don't get VCast at all. Otherwise the same.

How much is VPack for a new customer? Also, if a person uses data (or voice for that matter) and they are on an Extended Network (and they have a no-roaming plan), will they incur roaming charges?

VPack is $15/month with the first month free.

On the extended network there's no extra charge for voice calls. Data probably just wouldn't work but still wouldn't have any extra charges.

Thanks! Any idea of how long the VPack plan will be available for that price?

OK, so here is what confuses me. I have the V-Cast VPack, therefore I get unlimited data use (GIN, WAP, and V-Cast). But what happens when I travel outside of an EVDO area? I know I can't access V-Cast, but does GIN and Mobile Web use my minutes since I am using 1xRTT instead of EVDO?

That data use would still be airtime free. You don't even have to live in an EVDO coverage area to subscribe to the VPack. I talked to some people that did that just for the unlimited Mobile Web. Sending pix messages also becomes airtime free once you get the VPack as well.
