DT To Keep T-Mobile USA, Run It As A Low-Cost, Voice-Centric Carrier...

Nice find, Jake. I'm of the personal opinion Deutsche should just hold on to what they have. Tmobile isn't hurting without a 3g network. I also think a network upgrade to EDGE will keep them competitive with the big three. Deutsche should just keep on keeping on.

In that case, they'd be better off breaking up and selling it off piece by piece. One regional player buy this part, so-on. At least then, those crazy Germans would be able to inflate the price even more... ie: $25B for 18M custs or $10B for 5M custs times whatever...

🙄 And what Regional GSM carrier is large enough to afford even a small piece of T-Mobile??? Doesn't sound like a viable option to me. 🙄

Thanks, MuchD. I think you're right... lack of 3G, while costing them a few customers, won't be a deal-breaker for the majority for awhile yet, and in the short- to medium-term EDGE could fill in adequately. It isn't that slow for goshsakes, and T-Mobile has dem cheap data plans, right? What's not to like?

Just researched it- apparently there is a hard date (more or less) for T-Mobile to roll out EDGE nationwide. T-M is saying it'll happen by the end of '05.
