Instead of posting this on the LG and/or Motorola forum - I figured it would get more play here. Like many others I am still trying to make up my mind about getting either the 8100 or the 815. Reading all of the forums - I get the idea that both phones are far from perfect. They both seem to have their positives and negatives - and I'm talking about the basics (reception/voice loudness and clarity/ringers, etc.). So over the last 24 hours instead of one phone rising above the other - this still seems like a muddled subject. I stopped into a Verizon store last night and the manager told me that they sell 40% LGs and yet only about 15% of all their service work involves LGs (indicating that Motorola in the long-run has far more service work i...

PLEASE PLEASE do yourself a favor, get the LG, the Motorolas have so many problems, I can second the fact that most of our returns come from Motorolas, I dont want to come off wrong here, some people love them, however from my personal experience we have a lot of problems with mororolas, especially when they are first released, look at the v710 when it first came out it had MANY problems, now that it has been out for a while it has become a pretty good phone, it just took a year or so to work all its problems out, this is just my 2 cents and I dont want to start a flame war here.

I appreciate the response.........it's not so much I want to shy away from LG - it is our first choice - however, the early purchasers of the 8100 seem to be having the same if not more problems than the 815. Is this typical when a new phone comes out and are these problems likely to be fixed in the coming weeks?

I would love for someone to answer the original questions I put in my origination thread.

Phones sometimes have issues when they first come out, however there are generally fixes to the problems.

In answer to your qustions..

1.) Firmware sometimes fixes the problems, such as the 710 issues it took about a year to have it fixed completly, sometimes they get it fixed on the first try, the 710 just had SO many problems

2.) See answer in number 1, there is not really "a greater bearing" just Motos, seem to have more things to fix per phone

3.) See answer number 2 above, one phone will not generally get fixed before the other in terms of release dates for software upgrades, ...
