Horrible reception with VX4500. Help!

I recently upgraded from my 2 year old tri-mode audiovox to the LG VX4500. I chose this phone due to the generally outstanding reviews. Unfortunately I have had numerous dropped calls and the reception is very poor (cuts in and out). I live in the middle of San Diego (La Jolla) and never had a single reception problem with my old audiovox. Figuring that I must have a defective phone I exchanged it for a new one. Same thing. So I changed it again. Same dropped calls and poor reception. I'm considering the VX600 but fear I will have the same problem. I'm also considering the Samsung A530 but CNET reported the reception to be sub-par in California. Any suggestions or explanations why my reception would be so poor with supposedly a goo...

I've had this problem with the VX4500 as well.

It is unfortunately a sub-par phone. The LG-VX6000 is a very good dual-band phone. As to the samsung a-530.. Well my dealership stopped selling it back in January. Nuff said about that.

Also take this in to consideration.. Where are you using the phone? Are there any hospitals or such near by? Some places have cell phone dampers and other areas are just damn difficut to get signal in.

Thought I'd say get the heck off that VX4500 and get another phone ASAP if possible.

I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one who has had problems. My personal conclusion is that the phone has poor reception but I've read many glowing reviews that comment on great reception. I'm sure its not the signal, as I've had verizon for two years and never dropped a call with my old Audiovox.

Just out of curiosity, why did you guys stop selling the Samsung. And is the VX6000 significanlty different that I can expect better reception?

Well since I am on the front lines I do not know WHY we stopped carrying the samsung a530. I think it had to do something with the price it was being sold to us/availability.

As to the LG-VX6000? I recommend it cause both my co-workers have it AND all of our regional sales managers have the bloody thing. They have no complaints with the phone what so ever. I've used my co-workers VX6000 and was really impressed with how clear the calls sounded. What really got me is that I could hear fine in my right ear which incidentally, I am partially deaf in.

Want some irony? I must be the ONLY wireless sales person w/o a cell phone. Well currently w/o a phone anyways. 🤣 At least this gives me a more impartial judgement towards phones by not ...

I'm not sure what he's talking about with the Samsung... I've never had one come back, and the management at Verizon tell me its one of their favorites.

Thanks for the different perspective on the Samsung. My old Audiovox was the cdm 9100. It was fantastic but now I need something smaller.
