Video Calling

When will VZW be releasing video calling phones? Are there any video calling phones coming up in the near future?

I think those will come out when EV DO is available or does it need EVDO revA?

EV-DO is already available.... wth are you talking about?

I think we need EV-DO rev.A or EV-DV. Im not sure but I read that EV-DO that we offer today still uses the CDMA side so you need one that can transmit data and a a phone call at the same time.

That requires EV-DO Rev A, which isn't available yet.

Even when that is possible, there's no guarantee Verizon will launch such a service. Video calling has turned out to be a very over-hyped and under-used service on 3G networks in Asia and Europe. It's not clear there is sufficient demand for video calling.

LOL, youre telling me. Apparently video calling fell flat in Hong Kong and some other parts of Asia in part because wealthy businessmen didnt want to have their wives calling them up at night and seeing them out in a bar with their mistresses.

And of course women dont like video calling because they feel they have to be made up and looking 100% all of the time. Too much hassle.

Dont really understand how all the hype about vid calli...

They tried it with landlines and it wasn't overly popular. Guess the Jetson's weren't so cool after all. ☹️

But you have to keep in mind, things that are not popular and that does not sell over there has done well over here. We are two different cultures who enjoy different ways of living.

I'm still waiting on flying cars and the robot maid. The Jetson'a have deceived us all. With the news about wireless providers being sued for fine print in ads, maybe we should sue Hanna Barbara for getting our hopes up. 🤣
