Verizon Voice mail ... that lady's voice .... how can I get rid of her.

I personalized my voice mail introduction. Both with my name. And then also with my own intro. But that lady's voice STILL comes on after my intro. The lady says something like "at the tone, please record your msg, after recording you may hang up or press # for more options" ... or something like that.

How can I get rid of the lady's voice ? My intro is enough ... and people know how to leave a msg these days.

Thanx - [email protected]

just tell the people who call you to press * at the beginning and it will bypass all of that

Yes but the longer that "lady speaks" the more of the cell callers minutes it eats up. I think it is by design.
And no you can't silence her just bypass her as the previous poster indicated by having everyone press * when they are ready to silence her or you.

Judging by the amount of morons that call in who can't even figure out where their fricking * key is, I think the lady's voice is MORE than necessary. I'm possitive it's creation was moron-driven, and has drastically reduced CS calls.

i thought you only use minutes if you retrieve your messages from your mobile and if someone leaves you a message it doesn't count against your minutes. that's how it is with most carriers at least.

I think the orignal poster was taling about the person calling using their minutes. You are correct, though, that it doesn't cost YOU to get messages, only to listen to them.

I live in Indiana and the * does NOT shut her up! Rep told me this state is on a Lucent switch and there is no way to silence her!

We are getting a voicemail upgrade in the September/October time frame. You won't have to hit # to get to your voicemail anymore. Maybe it will do something to silence her as well.

We've already got the enhanced voicemail where I am (Indiana). When you call your voicemail (*86) it will immediately ask for your password, you don't have to hear your message or hit # to stop it and then enter your password. Lady is still there though. Not a big deal to me, I don't have to listen to her!

Has any more information come about concerning this problem? I too despise that lady's voice and wish no one had to listen to her drag on and on. Even when I set my greeting as just my name and a "standard greeting", she has to pipe up before and after my name. What every happend to You have reached "_________" BEEP?

Problem?! Christ. Believe me, it's a solution and a great one.

See previous post concerning morons and the need to have everything spelled out to reduce calls into Customer Service.

As soon as the voice mail greeting starts, all callers need to do is press "1" to skip everything and immediately begin leaving a message for you.
And NO, incoming voicemails do not use minutes. Only voicemail retrievals from the cellphone use minutes.

Okay, that's great that they only have to press "1", why is there not a way to have your greeting not include her at all? No one that calls me wants to send me a fax. It's ridiculous.

I think the reason is pretty obvious. Take for example the fact that in this thread alone it's been mentioned at least FOUR times that having the options spelled out on each and every call reduces calls into Customer Service, keeping costs lower for VZW, and ultimately the customer. But for whatever reason you didn't digest that nugget the first three times it was mentioned (assuming you read the thread at all), you just want things your way, and don't really care about the reasons behind anything. It's people like you that make it necessary for everything to be spelled...
