Can anyone tell me what advantages that Verizon has over Sprint, and Cingular. I have Cingular and they are charging me for stuff i didn't pay for then go back and say it a computer error. Does Verizon do this? Also if there are any disadvantages to Verizon please note these too.

Verizon Wireless Benefits:

One of the most reliable wireless network for phone calls. Verizon Wireless (VZW) is known to have the network that works in almost everywhere. It tends to work in rural areas where no other carrier has coverage. Read Maine, New Hampshire, Nevada and a few other places. VZW has the least amount of dropped calls per carrier.

Nationwide coverage with no roaming or long distance charges. Since VZW elimated roaming completely, you can use another carrier analog or digital signal when in isolated areas. You will not be charged anything extra for this. It will just be like a normal call.

Like everyone else VZW has nights & weekends, free verizon to verizon calling.

VZW's add-a-line is still $9.99.

Goods: Verizon offers you the new benefit of changing your priceplan mid month to be retroactive back to billing cycle date, which is even better than roll over minutes because you only pay for what you need if you work the system right.
Unlimited In calling.
Works in many areas where no others will.
VCAST service (watch video clips in broadband areas)
Pix and text packages that offer unlimited to vzw customers.
bad: the night and weekends dont start til 9pm.

Verizon does seem to have the best coverage in general but of course it varies from place to place. If you travel a lot, especially to rural areas, then Verizon is probably the best carrier. Also, if you have a lot of friends with Verizon then you have unlimited in calling which cuts down on minutes.

I think that the biggest down side to Verizon is their phone selection. Verizon's phones are huge compared to Cingular's phones. Also, if you use bluetooth then Verizon is not for you because they cripple their bluetooth so that it only works with headsets but not for file transfer.

I don't know much about Sprint so I can't really comment on them.

Nights starting at 9pm is actually better for most people than 7pm. If nights were changed to 7, so many people would be on the phone, you would be much more likely to not be able to make a call at all. It's not that Verizon doesn't want people to use their phone, they just want people to be mindful of how much they use it.

AT&T sort of learned this the hard way when they offered unlimited calling for $99. That's a great deal, if you can make calls whenever or where ever you want. Only twice in 6 months have I ever had an "Ineffective Attempt" where you I can't make a call and the phone says "Connecting". This happened daily on Sprint and T-Mobile when I had them.

You don't want to go to Sprint. I was with them for almost six months, and finally paid the early termination fee after such bad service in every way---when traveling, calls didn't go through to me or my voice mail, long waits for customer service (which isn't too good anyway), poor call quality, even when using the phone locally. They have their fair and flexible plan which is really great; I wish Verizon had that. But, I wouldn't go back to Sprint for anything.

As long as you keep track of your minutes, you can call Verizon at any time to change your price plan and have it cover the month you're already in.

(not directed at Richard)This new service does require an amount of personal responsibility, but if you can't handle that, you shouldn't have a cell phone anyway.

..And Verizon makes it so easy to track your minutes at any time. You can go online to your account, and see up-to-date minute usage at any time. Or dial #bal from the phone, and you'll see. If you find you're coming close to the limit every month, you can consider changing plans, even retroactively to beginning of billing period.

Just remember if you use your phone on the extended network, those minutes can take 3 days to show up on #646.

America's Choice Single Line Plans start @ $39.99 with no roaming. If you get the $15 VCAST V-Pak, you can use mobile web and Get It Now without using airtime. The only limit to the sites you can visit is if the site is designed to be viewed from a cell phone. The VX8100 is $199.99 with a $50 mail in rebate with a 2 year agreement.

I had sprint several years ago here in ohio. it was ok. I do not miss them.
I have had Verizon since, (last 4 years) and Have had no problems. I did switch to Cingular for the Razor phone last month, then the sony ericson phone and now back to Verizon. I now feel that Verizon is truly the best choice out there. Verizons phones may be bigger than Cingulars. However, @ cingular after the razor and the sony, nothing else caught my eye there. I am not a fan of Nokia, the phones are cool but the operating systems are too much.. I think Verizon keeps it simple and straight forward, You do not have to use the get it now stuff if you do not want too.. but it is there if you are stuck in an airport somewhere and want to Ebay .. hahah.. good l...
