My friend and I both currently have Verizon Wireless. I am under contract until 2007 while he is currently out of contract. He is leaning towards Cingular and I am trying to keep him on Verizon because I truly believe Verizon is the best Wireless Network available. Cingular offered him 12% off his monthly bill because he was a student at the college in our town. I am also a student there and I called Verizon from the Cingular store and asked if they had any discounts like that available. The CS was very friendly and said unfortunately no, but I can give you 100 extra bonus minutes a month for the next year. 1200 minutes total spread out of 12 months. I was just wondering how are they able to do that? Also what reasons can I give my fr...

Bonus minutes can be given to mostly any customer we deem to give them to. Verizon teaches us to look at longevity with the company, do you call in every month trying to get something else, do you pay your bill, its basically a retention tool that doesn't extend your commitment with us through a contract but entices you to stay.

As far as the bonus minutes go, that is what Verizon can offer because it's not a situation where a discount applies. One of the best advantages of Verizon is the network. the company invests tons of money every year into improving and expanding the network. i know a lot of people have posted on here about verizon employees being jerks...you are bound to run into an a-hole once in a while anywhere you go, but it's unfortunate that it's in any of our stores. at my store, we work really hard to satisfy our customers. most places are willing to bend the rules for the customer. i hope he decides to stay with us!

Yea I have never been upset with Verizon ever. I spend on average 200 dollars a month with the company and with only being 20 I think thats a lot, but I do love their service. I have my own family share plan one for my personal calls, and one for business calls. On the weekends I dont like to have both my phones with me. I know that during Peak Air time I get charged for the call if I forward it to another number. But if I forward it to my other VZW cell phone am I using twice the minutes or would only one phone be taking minutes away since it was forwarded mobile to mobile?

Here is a reason for him to stay with verizon, IN minutes, you guys can talk for free now whenever, and have him look at the rest of the people he calls, are most of them on verizon, if so, the free IN minutes are a good reason to stay with verizon. If most are cingular, well, then, cingular would probably be better for him in that regards.

Verizon has great service, who knows, even if he changes, he may be back, hard telling.
