Seriously, what is up with the forum for that phone? It is one of the EVDO phones and no one and I mean no one is ever on that forum. I definitely think that forum never gets any visitors. There are like no reviews and the forum is only 4 pages when compared to the E815 and VX8100 and even the CDM8940 which have significantly more. I mean what gives. That phone would be my choice out of all the VCast phones. Are people not liking it because of the lack of a speakerphone? Samsung makes the best phones when compared to the LG and Audiovox and they get pretty decent reception as well. If anyone can answer this I would really like feedback. I don't feel like hearing about people who are going to just bash the phone and say it doesn't have this o...

I'm honestly not sure, I personally have the Samsung 890 and love it. The whole speakerphone issue, which seems a stumbling block for many, doesn't bother me in the least. I have great reception (which inside my apartment is a miracle!) and the VCAST works like a charm. 🙂

How long does it take to connect to VCast? Is there a delay when trying to make a selection in the menu system?
...
In my experience it takes about 45 - 60 seconds for VCAST to boot up, and yes, there is sometimes a lag in the menu system, but only when my fingers want to fly too fast! 🙂

How is battery life on the phone? I hear it drains very quickly when there is no EV signal for the VCast?
...
I must admit battery life is not the greatest. I usually get two days out of it with moderate usage. I'll probably pick up an extended life battery, no biggie. I haven't noticed if the battery drains more quickly when there is no EV signal, I live in the Chicago area and VCast is pretty much everywhere.

Thats not all that bad. I have an Audiovox 9900 and I can only go a day and half without really using it before the battery dies. If I text message alot the battery is pretty much dead by the end of the day. I live in NYC and I travel to Manhattan everyday. The Verizon map shows that Vcast is there but not in Brooklyn where I live. That was the reason I had asked about the battery life because I had heard that it drains fast while constantly searching for the EV signal.

I must say I find it interesting that VCast wouldn't be in all five boroughs of the largest city in the US, when it's in every corner of Chicago and most of the Chicagoland area, and Chicago is the third largest city in the US. Awfully big, sure, but not as big as New York, of course. Eh, who knows how those things work.

I was surprised as well when I saw that my part of Brooklyn wasn't covered on the map for Vcast. I haven't had an actual Vcast phone in my house or neighborhood so I don't know if the map is correct or not.

I started out with this phone but returned it within my 15 days because no T9 was available when visiting email sites (i.e. Yahoo)using Mobile Web 2.0. At first I thought it was a software glitch but the floor model did the same thing at my local store. I email from my phone a good bit so even though this was a very good phone it didn't work for me.
...
Yeah, I don't have the patience to email from the phone too much, even with T9, so this never really bothered me. I could totally understand why that would be a problem, though.

Compare to other phone companies, Samsung phones have the least features, yet are the most expensive. But in the end, it's all come down to persnal prefrence....
