Reception of New and Old Phones

I'm still using my old v60i, which I'm happy with, but the battery is shot so I'm debating whether to upgrade or replace the battery. I don't care about new features like a camera or color screen, but I was recently in a large hotel and noticed that a friend with an LG VX-7000 on Verizon had a perfect digital signal, while I had none. As far as I know, both these phones use the same CDMA technology. Is there a reason for the different coverage? I update my roaming capabilities (dial *228 ) regularly, but we were closer to his home area if that makes any difference. Would a new phone get better coverage than my current one? What about AMPS coverage? Is this still necessary on the Verizon network? I travel through Vermont, New Hampshir...

this is impossible, motorola phones get better reception then LG's, everyone knows this... 😁

The V60i is a great phone--a classic. But it can't last forever, and the technology on the phones now has been updated, so that reception could be better on the newer models. I was happy keeping my V60 till I heard the better call clarity on phones like the LG 6100, LG 7000, and now the Moto E815.
