Cingy and Cust Service

I could never understand Cingualr's Customer Service "issues" until today. I have ALWAYS recieved excellent and FAST service whewn calling in however the reps at the Corporate stores could use some Customer service training.

It sems unless you are a customer of theirs or they see they will make money in some manner off of you they have no interest in helping.

I saw two examples of that recently in a store and experiened a "brush off " myself.

Maybe there is where the CS focus should be. The commissioned Sales Reps need to understand they work for Cingular and represent the company.

I know I do not count since I am a month to month customer who buys phones off Ebay. But the shabby in store service allows me to switch carriers ...

That is the exact attitude that earner your company the "worst customer service of any wireless carrier" award. Most of the reps who post on here are over worked and under paid, and as a result they do not care about the customers. I also understand that they deal with a lot of mean customers who are ignorant and belligerent, which also makes the reps hate thier jobs even more. Cingular should at least pay thier reps well since they have to deal with a lot of crap.

but when the reps have a nice customer, they need to be nice! I learned that lesson the hard way.

Verizon is doing well only because Cingular is dropping the ball bigtime with the ATT customers and with their in store customer service.

NOt becasue Verizon has more reliable technology, better phones, pricing or even Customer Service. Verizon needs to send Cingular a thank you card for the way they are handling their business as well as the training and quality of employees they hire.

I still believe GSM is the better technology by far. It just needs a better Carrier.

I never said Cingy Sucks! I never loved Cingular.I won't sign a contract with them.

I did say they are blowing a huge opportunity. They are responsible for Verizon's recent success.

Verizon is still the same. Crappy phones. ("Finally getting the Razor after many GSMers who bought it a year ago are tired of it)
Crippled BT. Smaller extented services digital netwok. Arrogant Reps. You guys should be thanking Cingular for choking like the Yankees last year.

This was Cingular's market to own. Now it's up for grabs and Red is benefiting.

Sorry KF, Verizon is responsible for Verizon's success. Nice to see that youre just as consistently wrong as ever. 😁

Btw on the topic of being wrong, what happened to your 'promise' of staying off of the VZW forum after your predictions failed to come to pass? Being wrong I can understand. But being wrong without honor? Ugly, that. 😲

GSM has a better carrier: T-Mobile. but T-Mobile is not big enough to have the coverage that verizon has. Verizon is the best CDMA carrier, and T-Mobile is the best GSM carrier.

Why is T-Mobile the best GSM carrier? Because they have the best customer service? Good, so now I know that when I have to call them every other day because my phone won't make a call, that at least I'll know they'll be friendly about it.

Customer service does not make a company.

when I had sprint PCS I never once had to call customer service either, and I had them for almost 3 years.(but some people swear it's the worst service in the world--worked great for me). However we all know their customer service ratings are in the toilet. I only cancelled service after customer service had a go with me after I moved. It's a VERY important aspect of customer service. I also have had T-Mobile now for almost 2 years (well, because I work for them) The only time my phone(s) has/have not worked is when I washed it in the laundry. It's worked every day and everywhere I've traveled to...Just because I have an employee account, our phones are just as suceptible to anything a normal customers are, too. We still pay for our service,...

Well to be perfectly honest with you, at first, I loved working for T-Mobile. I've been let down so much by this company however, that right now I'm not the biggest T-Mobile fan. I applied and was hired with verizon actually, and am supposed to start august 8th if all goes well.

I don't want to talk bad about T-Mobile, because they aren't a bad company, it's just the positionn I'm currently in, and location...and they've made it pretty much impossible to leave (transfer). This is just my experience however, I wouldn't want to discourage you...

If I could give you any advise, it's don't give up. keep applying online with jobs that interest you. There's a 1-800 number, too but I don't remember it off the top of my head. There's a lot of ...

Thanks for the advice. I hope Verizon treats you well. If T-Mobile does not hire me, oh well. I have a major problem with thier online assessment: it is very intrusive and they use it to phsycologically judge you and I think that is wrong. If T-Mobile wants to get to know me, they should call me and talk to me instead making me take an online test. They are just being lazy if they are resorting to some online exam as means of hiring people.

T-Mobile has the cheapest rate plans, and the best phones. T-Mobile has a one year contract requirement. T-Mobile has the best coverage in my city (Chicago) and I don't travel much. (except to Indiana occasionally and I get decent signal there.)

That's why T-Mobile is the best GSM carrier.

There are too many T-Mobile haters on phonescoop.com, you all need to lighten up.

I'll give you that T-Mobile has the cheapest rate plans (when considering just GSM). However, the best phones and the best coverage is all open to personal opinion. In my opinion Cingular offers the best phones and they have the best coverage, and I don't just stay in one place, I travel.

Whoever the "best" GSM carrier is will always just be an opinion too.

Ok, I usually don't get in the middle of these debates, but I'm gonna throw my 2 cents in, and also share an article I found. I have taken an interest in verizon more so lately over T-Mobile because I'm supposed to start working for them August 8 🙂 . While cingular is growing fast, and is a strong company, it's hard to say who is better or worse. One major downfall of cingular is they have neglected their legacy customers (both with cingular and attws) and more so targeted "the new cingular". They are so focused on how fast they can get something, they've lost sight of what they already have...none the less, their service is still damn good, and when it comes down to it, if it works, most people don't care about the rest.

Verizon on the...

I'd rather be able to say hey look, I have a signal and I'm in luckenbach, TX where nobody else can get a signal, but boy that's sure a cool looking phone you have there...what'd you say it can do again?

Really, last time I checked, in Texas Cingular dominates.

Now, I found this article on a site called business wire. Although it doesn't affect my area directly, it is recent (yesterday) and it's an example of what you see all the time.

Well first of all, I was attempting to make civil conversation, not be a jerk.

never once did I say cingular was a bad company, or better than vzw, did I?

you quoted me on saying "I'd like to be able to say hey look, I have a signal, and I'm in luckenback, TX where nobody else gets a signal except verizon" (which is true with the exception of cingular GAIT phones) and your response was "really? last time I checked cingular dominated texas" Yet you failed to quote me where I also said " I do very well know verizon has it's weak spots too, I haven't lost sight of that...no carrier is perfect".

I in no way made it out to be a pissing contest. Now you on the other hand...

If you are going to site an aritlce about Verizon upgrading their network and imply that it is something Verizon does all of the time, don't try and act innocent as though you didn't try to spin info in Verizon's favor. Verizon, in no way, is the only company spending billions of dollars on upgrading their network. However, that is quite clearly what you were trying to put out there.

May I ask, what was so uncivil about my response?

honestly, I think it's all of your responses. It's clear you have a grudge against verizon and it's employees. This forum is here to support the company, and present useful information to it's patrons.

the uncivility of your last post, and I may be mis reading here, (it's hard to pick up through just writing) so I apologize if I am; is of all I wrote you plucked out a VERY small portion, and immediately jumped on the offensive and your claws came out, and that was not my intention.

You're absolutely right...EVERY carrier invests back into itself and spends a lot of money...my point was verizon incorporates a lot of that into their marketing...more so than cingular. At least from what I've seen. I was merely providing an example of su...

Okay maybe you have a selective memory and only choose to recall the posts of mine that have supported Cingular, and not Verizon.

Take a look at this post if you think that I "clearly have a grudge against Verizon and it's employess".

I support Verizon fully. They are a great company, and I don't think anything is going to change that anytime soon. I just hate when people (on either "side") spins information or only gives half of the information out there to make their own company look superior.

I only picked out the information from your post that I felt was misleading. If that is uncivil, I can not apologize for that.

In the days before Cingular bought AT&T Wireless I would read arrogant Verizon supporters and employees bragging about how Verizon spent $5 billion on their network when Cingular in fact spent $6 billion. Who cares?!?! It doesn't matter how much a company spends on improving their newtork, because for all we know they could be misusing that money. It's a moot point, so why bring it up?
