Ok here is the deal: My friend is on her 5th Motorola V-710 and it is only 6 months old.
Where is it written about the 3 bad phones = the ability to replace it with a DIFFERENT phone?
She really needs a new phone.
Any help would be appreciated to point me where it is written about the 3 phone rule?
Thanks.

It's not a rule, it's a "suggestion" as a equipment replacement option.
...
It is a rule in the M&P's(methods and Procedures). If a customer has had 3 fru replacements within a yr--the next time they bring it in, they are entitled to a comparable model if they do not want the same phone. But is has to be comparable... Basically it is Three strikes your out!! And any self respecting store should see if this person has had 5 replacements of the same phone within 6 months time, this person needs a different kind of phone..Tell them to took at the M&P's for Fru replacement, it will tell them..Hope this helps.. đ

Thanks. Being a former Verizon Communications employee, I have written may Methods & Procedures for wireline services. I'll tell her to refer to them.
I appreciate it.

No problem, hope it helps you out.. But it is there, I have read it several times. And also have been quoted it too... đ˛

--- 3 phones in 90 days (not one year)
...
Ok, I stand corrected, 90 days, but as the message stated this is her 5th phone in 6mos, so this would fall into the 90 day category. I mean I know 6 months equals 180 days, but did she get a new phone a month? 2 phones in one month? the possibilities are endless.
Plus like I said any store should see this person is having issues with the phone--5times in 6mos, I think I would suggest that the person might want to try another kind of phone, as long as it is comparable it should not be a problem.

I totally agree.. she should have been in a new phone mos ago. for whatever reason, she's not! âšī¸ let's take care of the customer!

It is not a requirement to replace it with a differen model, it is an option that the store manager has. Also some customers do mot like the options that they are presented with when shown a comparabel model. I am not sure what they would offer for a Moto 710, probably not another BT phone since the other two, 8100 and E815 are EVDO phones and would be a considerable upgrade in equipment.

The Method and Procedures statement is actually if the phone is replaced 3 times within 90 days for the same service issue, it qualifies for multi-fru, which means you may get a comparable model. The 710 will be replaced with a LG VX6100 under multi-fru. It is highly unlikely they will replace with a VCAST phone.
...
It IS a rule, at least at my store in Colorado. If you are past your third replacement, you can go to a like model. We have a matrix that tells us what other phone would be similar that you can get into. For the v710 that would be the LG-VX7000.
...
if they are defective phones you can replace them as many times as needed to have a "non-defective" model.
...
This only goes for the West area of the US (Colorodo on west), however please keep in mind that if you do decide to invoke this policy to be polite about it. Yes there is in the Methods & Procedures, however it is 100% completely at the store manager's discretion to allow this to happen or not. Customer service does not have a say in this, even if you call a customer service supervisor.
So basically what I'm saying is be nice and polite to the store manager about this and they'll usually be willing to work with you. đ
