I am interested in openning up a verizon franchise store and was wondering if anyone had an idea of intial cost and procedure on this. Thank you for any information you can give.

You need to get incontact with teh Veizon rep in your area for the indirect stores, she will guide you throught the process which requires background checks and credit checks, that takes about 2-3 months for them to come back from my experience.
Opening up the store will run you about 15-20k depending on how nice you want it to be and how much inventory you open with, phone inventory is by far the most expensive part of it, budget about 7-10k for just that in addition to the 15-20k, Of course all numbers vary greatly based on what kind of location you get and what your rent is, just remember that leases are typically 3-5years minimum and first and last and security deposit are required before you even open your doors.

I would Recomend looking into a wirelesszone franchise. Wirelesszone is the number 1 cell phone franchise and is one of the top 50 franchises to open. For a wirelesszone store it may cost a bit more but you get all the support you will need plus the wirelesszone name with over 260 + stores out there. for more information go to www.wirelesszone.com

That might not be a bad idea, however than again you are essentially working for somebody else and having to pay them part of your profit. I did it on my own and it has worked out great, the best thing about it is that I have NOBODY to answer to, and I can make all the decisions about where to order from and what polocies to make.

Depending on the market Verizon is alo only expanding through existing larger agents. He may have to be a subagent at the beginning which sucks up a decent chunk of profit to pay the middle man.
Are you direct or a subagent?
...
I am an indirect agent, NOT a subagent, the only stores that are direct agents are the corporate owned stores. My company is the exact same as wireless zone just on a much, much, much smaller scale.
...
Ok, by direct I meant you deal with the carrier, not via a master agent.
Most expansion now is only done through existing agents. They very rarely will let you become a direct agent unless you have first been a subagent and proven yourself.
The only carriers out there willing to let new people have an agent contract are T-Mobile, Sprint and Nextel (that is without significnat clout).
...
Yes we are our own company, I started off not being a sub agent, just from scratch about 2 years ago.
We deal direct w/ Verizon,no master agent.
...
I just became a Verizon agent about 1.5 years ago and it was no problem at all. Even in a small town. I'm not a subagent.

WOW... those numbers seem very very high to me. I'd say it would depend what you already have. There was hardly any cost involved to me up front. I already had a business established and added Verizon Wireless to it. Virtually my only cost was inventory which was only around $4000. Of course as the months went on there were a few more things here and there but $20,000 seems really high to me.

I started off from nothing, no building, no displays, no computer, no signage, started from scratch, If I already had a location it would have been MUCH cheaper.
