Thank you for any input

If verizon has a one year manufacture warranty on all their phones, what is the benefit of getting the insurance? Why should I pay more each month?

Thanks guys, so much to learn. Trying to make smart choices before I sign up.

Well, If you drop your cell phone in water, if it gets stolen, or if for some unknown reason you run over it with your Hummer. The phone manufacture warranty is not gonna cover it/replace it. 😉

the manufacturers warranty only covers defective product. Any kind of physical damage will void the warranty. This is where insuarance comes in. THis is also why the extened warranty is worthless, because after 1 year almost everyphone has had some kind of damage to it. Also, for all those kids out there who want to change your faceplate, if you can't do it your self by snapping it on or off, then don't do IT!!!

Basically the other person already covered it pretty well. It can definitely protect you. The warrany will only cover you for defective problems, and only for a year. The insurance will cover basically anything. If you smash it, drop it in water, run over it, stolen, lost... just about anything. That's better than payig maybe $200 retail for a new phone. The insurance will also protect you during that second year when your phone is out of warranty but you aren't quite yet eligible to upgrade.
