New VZW Motos - Need VZW boys to confirm

I've been checking up on your new motos, and I've always been envious that they have the OBEYMOTO voice command tech on them, yet GSM models NEVER have it.

I just checked out the CDMA RAZR on the net and saw that it does indeed have OBEYMOTO on it, yet our version, black and silver, doesn't have it.

Does Motorola have some contract with VZW to have all the new high-end Motos have this feature? I really like it and don't understand why our GSM stuff never has it.

Thanks

When Cingular rolls out 3G we'll have that feature on phones like the Motorola V1050, V980, V975. Check them out here:

Verizon has 3G, but there hasn't been anything said about when they'll have phones capable of performing video calls. Probably they'll be crippled too. I can see it happening.
MMMMmm! It'll be something like...
"Verizon Releases Video Calling Phone..!"

(and the fine print will read something like....) for one-way Video Calls only, or worse yet.... For video calls without audio.... OR even more dramatic yet... for Video Calls showing only the top part of the face (this means: from the nose up only!) For whole face video calls Get It now is required and the feature will be like $10 a month and you'll get only 10 video calls a month.
I hate you VZW.
Cingular Rocks!

You're are wrong demographically. Video Calling is a feature aimed to young or business people. (I'd like to say high school kids) but they won't have the money to pay for these phones when they come out. It'd be more like college students/graduates. Just like picture messaging. It didn't catch on right away, but it's getting there, as camera phones get cheaper and cheaper.

Think so, huh? :

The research poured some particularly cold water on 3G, with many respondents sceptical about the new services it promises to offer. "My brother-in-law has 3 already, so I was video calling him, and it is funny we get on really well normally, but those calls felt a bit awkward," said one respondent.

The report concluded that most 15-year-olds to 24-year-olds felt that the ability to use the visual aspect of the video calling and messaging can be both unnecessary and unwelcome. They felt more pressurised to tell the truth and worried about their appearance. Part

Of course they were skeptical. It's always awkward to adjust to something new. I was skeptical of buying a new ergonomic keyboard. It looked awkward. It felt awkward; but after getting used to it, I love it.

And what are ergonomic keyboards? A niche product. Ironic, huh?

Just wait and see until it gets popular among people, it'll become a hot feature.

Thats what they keep telling themselves in the foreign markets where its already been offered for awhile now, still hasnt happened.

I never felt the need for a camera phone until I went to a concert

Cameraphone functionality and video calling are very different. Video calling is muc...

How is it intrusive? when you have an option to answer or not. That's like saying cell phones are intrusive: because you can always be reached. If you called me Im sure as hell I wouldn't answer lol (j/k) so whether you were video calling me or just calling me I could never say that your call was intrusive. It could be annoying, but not intrusive. 😛

Where did you get your info? Vodafone has just started to offer phone with video calling like the V1050, V975 and V980 since March of this yr. That's NOT "awhile"

Did you even read the study I posted just a post or two back?

Whatever! are you trying to say that vzw is going to look the other way, and not release video calling phones just cuz "it's not working" in Asia/Europe?
Once cingy gets their customer service issues under control and releases 3G. Vzw will have to turn the other cheeck.

-Faster data speeds.
-Better network reliability (once Network Integration is complete)
-Better phones.
-The truest sound in wireless (read voice clarity)
-Phones that do what they are supposed to. (No crippling of features)
-Ahh I could go on... but why bother? I'll let Anxio pick it up from here.

Where in the world did you get that from? If anything, you'd think that VZW would be in a better position to do vid calling in the coming year, since theyre so far ahead of everyone else in their 3G rollout.

What I am saying is that vid calling will be no big deal, no matter who's offering it. That includes Verizon.

why is everyone ranting over 3G? is 3G all that it is cracked up to be? Can you surf the web and take call at the same time? I do not have Verizon and I would like to know these things. I know with video calling you have to be able to surf the web and talk on the phone at the same time, if your netwrok is capable of doing that then your network can use video calling. But after reading how sprint/Nextel( I do not carry neither) will be rolling out 4G and the things 4G can do, I just can not wait. I think its like 2007 they will release it or 2008.

You have to take in mind that Asians and Americans are not alike. There are things that us Americans love and Asians and Europeans dislike. So just because it flopped over there does not mean it will here. FPS do not sell as well as they do here in the US, so thats one thing that does not sell well there but does over here. I say give it a try, see who wants it and who does not, cause I have alot of friends over seas that live in Sweden, Ireland, Germany and other parts that laugh at our phones that sell like hot cakes, ex: Motorola v710.

Considering that video calling has not done well in England and Italy as well as Asia, I'd have to say its not just geography/culture thats making vid calling not so popular. After all, European tastes are quite different from Aisan, yet both are saying the same thing.

But hey y'know, anythings possible, and I'm sure that everyone's going to try to push vid calling on the USA regardless of how its done elsewhere because of the additional revenue it could generate for carriers. Just don't be too disappointed when it ends up being a niche product, thats all.
