I believe I have decided to go with Verizon. I've read many threads on this site and talked to friends and family. I need two phones for my wife and myself. We like to do allot of traveling and want as few problems as possible. It just seems to me that verizon has the best all around coverage and from everything I hear and read customer care. I have decided to go with two motorola E815 and the America family choice plan 1400 min for 89.99. If I understand that plan correctly it will allow my wife and I to talk mobile to mobile unlimited no matter which state we are in, and long distance on both lines. Is there anything else I should know before going in to sign up. Any advice is greatly appreciated. 🙂

You made a great choice in phones the e815 is the best phone verizon has as far as reception! yes your mobile to mobile is unlimited anywhere in the U.S. and you have long distance on both lines. I think as far as reliability and overall coverage verizon cannot be beat, maybe in a year or so when cingular finally completes there integration they might be someone to look out for! My only other advice is make sure you sign up for a one year contract, lets you keep up to date with phones more, and lets you keep your options open faster as if you don't like verizon after a year you can always move on. Two years is too much!!!!!!!

Thanks Maverick for the advice! One year contract can get the newest phone earlier or opt out if not happy.

or just make sure you get insurance because there is a good chance the moto's charging port won't last two years.

no it is just a general moto problem to be aware of, the charging ports don't hold up, if you take care of your phone you should be fine, but if you are rough on phones you might want to add insurance just in case. The phones will have a one year waranty on them that would cover that so it is not a huge deal, but if you are rough on them or doing a two year plan i would add insurance.

I'm not sure if I agree with the 1 year contract advice. I hate to see a customer go on a 1 year contact. It's going to cost you so much more money and chances are you'll be there for two years anyway. If it comes down to it you should be able to do an early upgrade on the primary line after a year if needed anyway.

Sure, but judging by the subscriber adds the last couple of quarters, not so much. 😉

I'm thinking that we're going to see the gap close back up this quarter. Nothing on Verizon, but Cingular's changing a few things to please the customers at the end of the month. It's excited for Cingular, to say the least. 🙂

Hey RUFF... 'a few things', you say? Hmm, I'd guess that Cingy would probably bring back the 9.99 add-a-line, and maybe introduce some cute new music phones? Plus a large accompanying marketing blitz, of course.

It's nice that they're getting off their keister... another thrashing like last quarter, and the perception is going to start setting in that Verizon is always going to win. It's good that they're stepping up and trying to keep things competitive, that'll be best for both the consumer and the industry. 🙂

If you do a lot of traveling to places where digital towers are not available, the E815 won't help you. The E815 is all-digital.

Of course, if analog capability doesn't matter to you, the E-815 is a great phone.

Isn't analog where Verizon has all the "extra" coverage? If he has all digital wheres the advantage? I have both Cingular and Verizon because there are areas where one works much better then the other and the phones have different features.

Actually a good part of the coverage is digital. All the coverage in Verizon's owned area is digital. As far as the rest of the Americas Choice, more and more is becoming digital. If you look at a map the analog really isn't as much as some people think.

Another person made a great point.

If you travel a lot, live in a very rural area, or just want extensive coverage just in case, the e815 is not for you. The e815 does not support analog, and without it you are getting a smaller coverage area than what you may believe.
