A much smaller carrier like T-mobile, with limited services and resources, buying the second largest carrier, with the largest company owned network (VAW), and the two companies are incompatible technologically--GSM vs. CDMA.
Sounds pretty outlandish. I couldn't even seeing Verizon buying out T-mobile due to the technology difference.

Did he mean tmobile USA or tmobile the global entity because they are pretty strong, but they would have to fight Vodafone for that which is extremely difficult especially with the agreement that voda has with verizon. It does sound possible, but tmobile USA WOULDN’T buy them because they couldn’t afford them. In addition, they have more things to worry about then buying up verizon wireless. Although it isn’t such a bad idea because they get 3g spectrum, towers, assets, and most importantly clients. Therefore, I mean the idea isn’t that bad but the idea of tmobile USA buying them or tmobile buying them (the worldwide unit) is a little bit far fetched.

This isn't going to happen. T-mobile USA is the most profitible devision of T-mobile. Not to mention that if Tmobile purchased Verizon they would have to junk either verizons network or T-mobile eventually. Big waste of money.

I know it wont happen, i am just stating that it is an interesting possibilty especially since they can acquire the network, subscribers and assets.

Actually, I think nextel18 may have transposed his facts a little bit. I have read from web sources that it was actually the opposite scenario, that Vodafone was considering purchasing T-Mobile because since Vodafone is mostly a European company and the absolutely largest wireless phone provider globally, therefore utilizes the GSM technology, it only stands to reason they would capitalize aquiring T-Mobile.

This would be a somewhat cool scenario though.

Don't me to be confrontational, but I have read something regarding this issue as well.

yeah gadgetguy2, you are correct that vodaphone (who owns most of verizon), was considering buying t-mobile, but i believed they dropped the idea because of the associated costs. For those of you that dont know, t-mobile is owned by a global german company, deutche telecom (which i just spelled wrong i know). Vodafone is a much larger company than deutch telecom, and verizon's network and customer base is a million times larger than t-mobile usa's, so no t-mobile is not buying verizon. That would be like ma and pa's grocery store buying jewel or dominicks. And thats not even taking into consideration that t-mobile's network is THE SMALLEST network of any national carrier and the only ones still running a 2G network. Verizon's 3G network...

"Vodafone (VOD.L) does not consider the time right for an acquisition of T-Mobile USA, a unit of Germany's Deutsche Telekom (DTEGn.DE), Vodafone's chief executive was quoted as saying in a German newspaper interview.

"

"Deutsche Telekom has asked fund managers in recent months whether they would back it spending as much as $10 billion on launching 3G services in the United States, or if they would prefer it to sell off the unit."

wait, so your saying that vodaphone never considered it by putting a quote from the vodaphone CEO saying "we dont think the time is right for aquiring t-mobile?" That quote says right in it vodaphone considered buying t-mobile. 🤣

that means that voda doesnt think tmobile is right to buy them right now. (or ever) no voda never considered tmobile usa. no point of it.

voda never wanted to buy them. news has indicated many times that voda was never interested in them. voda also said they dont want them. why? well becuase they dont have a great network, they dont have 3g spectrum, and they need to spend 5-10 billion+ on that spectrum and more billions on their capex to expand their coverage/capacity.

LOL. I think he was. 😁

Lets put it this way- theres about as much a chance of T-Mobile buying Verizon as there is George W. Bush getting a PhD in English or Jessica Simpson acing the MCAT. NOT gonna happen.

HAHAHA... now that i have had a good laugh... why in the worl would T-Mobile buy Verizon?? I dont think that will ever be an option... Verizon is more adavnced in so many different areas that would be taking a step backwards... you might want to check you sources.
