I have a tower .4 miles from my house, but on the inside I still lose signal. I'm thinking of adding an external antenna like a yagi. The yagies are band spcific, 800mhz. Ist there any way to know if the tower by my house is 800 or 1900mhz?

We really don't recommend putting pur antenna's like that b/c we can't support them if anything goes wrong, plus they could cause some interference with our existing towers.
Even though the tower is right near you, it's very likely that you may not have signal inside the house. Is the house made of stone or brick? If so, that's probably why you don't have signal.

Someone else said if it's an antenna that plugs into the phone, that's not recommended... if it's a signal booster or repeater that just pulls a signal from outside and boost it that's fine. To find out what frequency your wireless provider uses check out http://wirelessadvisor.com/ they will list it out for you.

Wirelessadvisor.com lists both bands. Does Verizon use both bands on all towers? If not, what determines which they use. Is one technology newer? Is one better in rural, the other better in urban situations? Anybody have suggestions on where to find answers to these questions?
Thanks, great forum!
