Need help from a VZW sales employee

I went into my local store tonight and I think the rep had no idea what he was talking about
Currently we have four family share lines with 900 or 1000 minutes
On one of the secondary lines which is 15 months into a 2 year contract I wanted to do an early upgrade from my crappy kyocera kx414 phone to the new lg 5200. The rep said I couldn't do it because I wasn't eligible and you can only do upgrades on the primary line (and I told him I did an early upgrade on another secondary phone at the same store last year and he said nope. He said you will have to go through executive services or call CS for that 👿 )
I also wanted to add two more lines so that would make a total of 6 lines for our family share. He said you cannot have 6 line...

Unfortunately, the rep was correct. There have been changes to the early upgrade policy and you would not be able to receive promo price on a new phone for a secondary line.

As far as the number of lines in a share plan 5 is the limit. You can have a 6th line on the account but it would need to be on it's own plan. 1 bill still.

Hope this helps.

I have seen larger familes that will put 4 phones under the dad's name and 4 phones under the mom's name. Just a thought.

He was exactly right. The only way you can get an early upgrade now is if it's a line that is paying $59.99 a month or more and has been on that plan for at least 3 month. Otherwise you're out of luck. This being a share line, you're out of luck.

As for the shareplan, you can only have 5 lines on one family share plan. There is no way around it.

Yeah, think about it with the upgrade. 9.99 a month revenue over 24 months is (rounded to) 240.00. They were giving free secondary phones. Some of those phones had a cost (albeit inflated cost) of 220.00 So that meant that VZW was making 20 bucks. Then they let you upgrade at the 22 month mark of a 24 month contract. That would mean they broke even. So why would they upgrade even earlier then that and give a discount? Wouldn't make business sense at all.

rep is right, the company policy is no earlys on a secondary, but in CA the policy is rarely followed with the number of escalations we have in our stores.

...so what happens if one does this:

go in, upgrade primary line to new phone

call customer service and ask to swap phone numbers between primary line phone and secondary phone... wait the 3 mos or whatever and go get a new upgrade for that one?

That'll work, but you have to wait 3 months still...

Ok heres how you do it. I have done this for all my people that i feel bad for in my store. The 3 months thing is new we used to just make the 9.99 line a 59.99 primary but they put this 3 month thing in. So what we do is we call verizon and say. you know i was told if i sign a 2 year contract that i could get a new phone after a year. I would only have to change my plan. Keep goin and they will do it for you trust me . I got my 25th person done like that today. But you have to go to a verizon store not a Agent. Call first and have them note the account. THEY WILL NO LONGER LET YOU TAKE ANOTHER PERSONS UPGRADE!!! So many people think that they let you. No more. If you do the upgrade than later call back and change the phones around they will...

OMG you don't know what you're talking about. First of all, you can switch lines around all you want. It doesn't matter. I do it at my store for people all the time. An upgrade could really be processed with an old phone for all Verizon cares. As long as it's a different ESN it'll go through and the store will be paid.

As for the other, it COULD work. I'm sure you could get a rep that feels sorry for you and will givin and let you do it. As for a retail store only, that's not true. As long as they call in before and get it noted on the account the agent store can do the exact same thing.
