Verizon Wireless was the first out of the gate with what is expected to be an industrywide effort to allow mobile-phone users the ability to donate to the American Red Cross using text messaging and the short code 2Help or 24357.
Customers taking advantage of the service will be able to donate $5 to the American Red Cross. This can be done up to five times for a total donation of $25. Standard text messaging charges still will apply.

I can't wait for the calls from people wondering what the $5 text message their son/daughter/grandkid sent was. How are they going to say they are againt helping? While I doubt I will give much or anything, if I "mistakenly" donated $5 or even $25, I wouldn't have the heart to dispute it.

Just so people know this, according to verizon's website, the standard text messaging charges are also going to be donated to the red cross...

Hats off to verizon for making it easy to donate for this effort, I encourage all verizon customers to donate.

Goto verizons website for complete details on what you have to do to donate.

Thanks for the info..

Well, I did this on sunday and I never got any confirmation text messages. Is the system that slow, or something messed up with it.. I guess I will have to wait till the bill comes in to see if I actually donated or not... 😡
