Does anyone know when (or if) the price on the e815 is going to come back down to $100? I'm due for an update in a few weeks and I'm starting to get a little anxious about having to pay 50 bucks for the phone. . .

LOL. This is what the industry has come to. See people what is happening with the mental idea of phone buying. Someone wants a very high end phone but is "anxious" about having to pay for high end phone equipment...

As a college student if I can wait two weeks and save fifty dollars it's well worth it to have more money to spend on say, food, or books. . . Things that are more important than a cell phone. I just wondered if anyone knew if the price was coming down, thats all.

OK. But here once again is how the cellular industry has trained people. I was a college student once remember how hard it was financially. THIS IS NOT A FLAME AT YOU! I will point that out. This is just what the cellular industry has done. People do not want to pay even 50 dollars anymore for one of the highest end phones that Verizon Wireless has. So why carry low end phones? That is where I am coming from. If people can buy an EVDO V-CAST Video phone for free, why would they buy an LG VX3300? These phones no longer have any value to those purchasing them. They are capable of so many things now, but even with more features they cost less.

Think of it this way. GM tells you the customer that since they value you they will sell...

You talk about the old days where people had to pay for color screen phones. How about the days when you got the Nokia 638 (analog phone) free and you had to pay at least $100 for anything digital? Or the days when you got the Nokia 2160 free, but the smaller digital phones were at least $200?

Now those were the days.....

Did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed this morning??? You seem crankier than usual.

Sorry! LOL

The NE2 is just a sore spot with me. I still do not understand why VZW wont compensate the dealers. And then on top that they send offers to ones eligible for the NE2 with the high end phones for free. Then the customer comes into my store and I cannot help them. I will do what I can, but these EVDO phones, we don't make crapola on them to begin with. Even as a new customer. But yet VZW wants their indirect channel to sell more VCAST phones, but won't compensate us to do so. It just doesn't make sense. I would literally LOSE over 40 dollars per sale if I matched the price on the NE2. And then since I cannot get that business I guess I will just have to sell the secondaries. Oh wait...I get so little commission on a se...

You sound like a friend/co-worker I have in Philly. He has been complaining and been very bitter since school started too.

Nope...not me. I am not bitter. Only about this one issue. I don't understand why VZW won't do business practices that would help the people selling their product. And then wonder why we don't sell very much VCAST phones...

Maybe because most of the dealers make more problems for vzw than they care to fix. In my area litteraly daily I have people telling me about how/why they got screwed at an agent. Wrong plan setup, incorrect information, Wrong features added or not added, and the largest one I think is how the majority of them talk about how the agent said the service could accomodate this or that and pawned off the actuall situation or problem on customer care stating they must have changed this or that. I have an agent selling vzw in the mall by me and they didn't know what evdo was or that the "big black pda one there" was called the samsung i730. Ne2 is more complicated than you think. Prcing discounts in the past and certain exceptions made in the past ...

I am in agreement with crazyeagle on this one. We are indirect and get the same static from our vzw rep about data and the upper end phones. Where I live (400 miles to the nearest area) we don't have access to Vcast or any of the high end data programs (broadbandaccess, etc). My customer base is older (avg age of county is 43) and don't want any of those features anyway. With vzw changing their percentages on Data it has been really tough to sell upper end phones that cost $150 plus on upgrades or new acts. They just don't use the features that the phone has. We have gotten a large amount of customers that have their NE2 stuff when they come in saying that a Cust Care Rep (you guys do a great job BTW) sent them to us to get their NE2 phone a...

And the same back at ya'. Don't know how many times I have had customers come into me and said they went into a retail store and were treated horrible. Or the number of times someone comes in here and says that VZW rep said we could do something that we can't. If an agent is bad, they will be out of business, plain and simple. Reason? It is near impossible to compete with prices, so the only way I can stay better is by providing the best customer care possible.

Here is one example, I was at a retail store dropping a phone off for a customer and overheard this very scenerio.

Customer: "Yeah, I need a new phone. Mine is broke. What deals are you offering?"
Rep: "How long have you had your phone?"
Customer: "About a year and a...

i want to rant too. people buying on price drives me crazy. i'm a real estate agent also, and it's very cutthroat. agents are constantly cutting their commissions to try and get business, yet i still get the same commission i always have, 1-1 1/2 percent more than them, for a simple reason. if price is the only thing they push, then it's all they have to offer. i give better service and get a higher price for their homes, so they see i'm worth it. that carries over to phone selling. it's easy to kill t-mobile with that philosophy, as well as others. it also isn't that hard to sell a higher dollar phone if you show them why they need it and are confident about it. if you show the free phone first people get stuck on price, show a mid to high ...

I completely agree! That is why I always wonder why VZW leads in with their NE2 with the HIGHEST end phones for free.

Anyway, I have a large and ever growing customer base because of this philosphy. Word of mouth and reputation means alot.

If the price doesn't come back down, just get the LG VX-8100. I have had both the 815 and the 8100. I like the LG much better. It is a more solid phone...
