Holy cross posting, Batman.....I will post the same response I put in the Cingular forum:

It all started when the FCC came out with the radiation warnings about cell phones in the late 90's/early 2000's. They stated that phones with stub/internal antennas provided the body with more radiation than phones with extendable antennas.

When that happened, Verizon was pointed out as a great carrier for not having any phones with stub antennas, so they used it as an advertisement for a while and management has never gotten of...

That was very informational. Thank you. Will you please convince all the rednecks that live in the woods around our town that they don't need a pull out antenna and a tri-mode phone to get the best reception?

I would, but I don't live in the woods....I actually live in a major city, so we all understand that already.

well, I live in a rural area, and there are spots in my town that if you dont pull the antenna out, the conversation breaks up, and not just one time, all the time. Once you pull the antenna out, the conversation is fine, so, I guess verizon's poor service in our town makes us a redneck, thanks verizon...

okay i have two verizon phones
an a670 with a pull up and an lg vx 4500
i dont live a rural area or anything like that, i notice with the vx4500(which has a stub) gets less bars in some places, and in some places more. my a670 (pull up) has service everywhere it is very rare for it to go out of service, the vx has gone out of service various times while my a670 has been in service with 2 our of 4 bars, with the antenna up. personally i think they are more dependible because they keep a constant signal, while the stubs fluctuate betwwen high and low.

VZW429, I'm soooooooo glad you put the "personally part in your statement, because this has not been the experience in MY case. However, not to put your comment vs my comment, the extendable ant. are GOOFYYYYYYYYY, "people" if you knew how SILLY you look with those things up 🤣. Alas, with the stub and internal atn. "LESS WORK" and the cool factor. This is "2005" soon to be 2006 not 1996 with some star tac or something (which was a good phone) but once again you have to know that extendable ant. are just as out of date as NEXTEL and its walkie-talkie feature..... DONE!!!!!!!!!! 😛

iDEN requires the ant. on their phones because of the technology they use.
