Adding Data

I am thinking of parking my v710 (Verizon for voice) and my 7520 Blackberry (Nextel for email) and get the Blackberry (Verizon) 7250. A few questions.

1) Can I just add the Blackberry (I'll buy it from eBay) with the unlimited data plan and NOT extend my contract? Yes I do know that my bill with go up $50 a month.

2) As for this particular Blackberry, anyone have any experience with the ringer? My Nextel 7520 is way too low for my old ears ;-')

3) Any overall impressions of the Verizon Blackberry would be appreciated.

Thanks!

If you purchase a Blackberry on e-Bay, you should be able to add the unlimited data plan to your existing service without extending the contract.

The add-on data plan functions like a "feature," similar to, say, a text messaging package or Mobile Web on a regular cell phone. Adding or removing these features does not affect your contract.

However, some markets now offer combination voice and data "bundles." If this is available in your area, it could save you some money. For example, the bundle that combines 1350 minutes with unlimited data is only 109.99.

The bundle is a promotional rate plan that will require a ne...

I just have to say that the whole etend your contract by one year if you have less than one year left is not true everywhere. In PA you can sign a verbal two yr contract, it is legal. Because of that it is required when you switch. Believe me I ama retail sales rep and if I could keep a contract from extending before the 22 month mark I would.

Thanks for the reply and great info Chris as well as everybody else! Actually I gave into temptation, called VZW, made arrangements to get the bberry 7250 today and went to the local Circuit City and picked it up.

My only concern at this point is the BT connection between the bberry and my car. The v710 worked pretty well in this way, but one call with the bberry and my car was not great. Hopefully I was just in a bad spot.

Thanks again, Scott
