44 million strong??????
Hey it would be great to get a VErizon rep answer this question but everyone could make a guesstimate if they want..... last time i checked, Verizon had 43+ million costumers..... but that was a couple months ago.... does anyone have anew estimate? all i know is that were right behind Cingular (who claims they have 50 million but in reality have like 47-48 million).

Cingular claims to have 50 million but in reality have 47 million? That's the most ridiculous statement I have ever heard.
Why would Cingular ever need to lie about how many customers they have?
Fact. Cingular has (more than) 51.6 million customers. Expect that number to rise to the 52.6 million to 53 million range in a few weeks after Q3 results.

First and foremost, you have watched Bill and Ted's Adventures entirely too much (jk) and second, it's hard to get a read as too how many cingular customers there are given such a high rate of churn. Oh yeah, there are no facts, even if you write "Fact." in front of it. All these are estimates based on figures both from the companies and other financial institutions. And never discount the fact that any company would probably over-estimate their numbers (not outright lie, they go to jail for that....ask Enron) inorder to see an increase in stock performance.

High rate of churn? 2.2% isn't the worst of the industry. Plus, understand that churn is calculated in each quarters net adds, so the customer base numbers are pretty accurate. Plus, they round for the reason of calculation error. They aren't going to be overestimating their customer base by more than 2 million like the original poster was indicating. Cingular has over 50 million customers. That is fact.

Aside from that FACT, I think I've made my point very clear, I don't care how many customers you have, I do care how many you lose per quarter. I'm not as quite up on Sprint-Nextel as I am Verizon or Cingular because I really have no appreciation for their service, but the last time I checked I believe that they had around 44.7 million.

b. all reported issues were resolved and an appeal has been submitted, worst case, they'll be back in it in 11 months

First, if they had been resolved, then why the big huff from the BBB? 200 complaints and 20 completely ignored complaints and somehow now that they resolved those issues it's no big deal. Come on, if the airline industry had 200 planes fall out of the sky and suddenly decided to fix its problems you'd still be pissed off. Blowing off customer problems should be a major issue for Cingular, whether it be in one area or all areas covered by their company.
