wow thats alot of txting!
but if you txt to maily verizon ppl they have the unlimited verizon. but if i were your i wouldnt completely swich to t-moblie.( just becuase they have a good txt plan doesnt mean you can use it everywhere. keep in mind you can only txt where you have service, and it quite obivious that verizon is way better than t-mobile.) if you can aford it get the cheapest calling plan for t-mobile and add on unlimited txt, and keep your verizon phone for calls. if worse comes to worse i would call people every once in a while instead of txting lol 😉

I used to be between 2500 to 3000, but then both me and the wife got promoted, so we can't text as much anymore. See how work gets in the way of things. 😈

I used to text probably 100-150 messages a day total. It was the easiest, quickest way to contact my girlfriend and other friends. I live in Iowa, and I guarantee you Verizon's network is no better than anyone else's here, probably worse than several. Calls are constantly dropping when I talk to U.S. Cellular customers, and it's usually clear that my phone (Verizon) is the culprit.

Anyway, the reason I went from 100-150 per day down to no more than 20 per day IF I even use it is because the price got out of control. Using at my old pace, today I would rack up $50-60 in overages every single month. By far my biggest beef with Verizon, and the "best network" excuse is tired and BOGUS in my area.

Why doesnt Verizon have some sort of unlimited txt msg package period. To anyone, not just to customers that are "in". Doesnt sprint have this? It seems like more people would be upset that Verizon does not have such a package or is it just me? i love texting, its so quick and convenient

This is in the same boat as 7pm nights and weekends, rollover, fair & flexible, etc.

VZW is outperforming EVERYONE in numbers (churn, profits, gross adds)... there is no need to give out anything away that would create less profit. In order to see anything similar to unlimited txt, less expensive data, early nights and weekends, etc. VZW would have to have its churn go up DRAMATICALLY -or- be beaten by the competitors DRAMATICALLY in gross adds.

The rule applies to all business, if people are willing to pay $100 for a widget, it wouldn't make sense to sell it for $80. It just wouldn't be worth it.

In this case, having a couple of higher tier text packages will help raise ARPU because right now if you go over 2500 texts, you just aren't going to use the phone. You could charge 3 cents a message and people still would not, by and large, go over the 2500 because people like to know what their bill's going to look like in advance. So adding some higher plans will, by and large, create new markets, not lower costs. Unlimited messaging is probably tempting fate, but why not, say, 4000 txts for $30?

My VZW rep asked what I thought VZW could do to increase the number of data sales. I brought up three things. 1) airtime for everything except text messaging. Of course with VCAST you get the airtime included for 15 bucks a month, but you still need a text/pix plan on top that. How about including airtime for pix messaging and mobile web. For the 15 bucks included the equivelant of the $5 in messaging. VZW might argue the fact people will get more for less, but I argue they will get alot more data adds to make it worth their while. 2) Come out with an unlimited texting plan. Even if its 20 bucks. Every other carrier seems to offer something for unlimited texting except VZW. 3) Offer more data bundles. Example, maybe mobile web and u...

Without having read the thread that follows this message, I'll offer the following thoughts:

(1) 1000 messages is $9.99/month. In most markets, Verizon has a plan with 2500 messages per month for $19.99.

2500 messages per month is more than 80 per day. If this isn't enough, you need to get a life.

(2) The VX-9800 offers Wireless Sync, which gives you access to a POP3 e-mail account. I don't know how this is priced yet. But on other VCAST phones, the unlimited VCAST pack is $15 per month, and it includes unlimited access to Mobile Web, without using airtime. Mobile Web allows you to access Yahoo! and other types of free e-mail accounts.

Have you considered using e-mail instead of text messages?

Hmmm... 2500 messages pe...

ok dude, you dont understand, when verizon says 2500 texts, that means to send OR recive. so to use 80 a day your only actually using 40 if you get a reply for every message, 40 a day isnt hard. Do you use aim? because texting is the same concept, except it costs 10 cents to send or recive.
